G_B_ Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Ahead of Laxman who will play at 6. Cricinfo seem to think so. India(probable): 1 Virender Sehwag, 2 Gautam Gambhir, 3 Rahul Dravid, 4 Sachin Tendulkar, 5 Virat Kohli, 6 VVS Laxman, 7 MS Dhoni (capt, wk), 8 R Ashwin, 9 Zaheer Khan, 10 Ishant Sharma, 11 Umesh Yadav. http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia-v-india-2011/content/current/story/546782.html I thought Kohli did a good job in the third test v the windies batting with the tail. We need a batsman at 6 who can force the pace. I would have Kohli at 6 and Laxman at 5.
G_B_ Posted December 25, 2011 Author Posted December 25, 2011 I hope they are wrong about the batting order. The team looks spot on to me.
Old guy Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 no.. llaxman at 5 kohli at 6 its probably a silly mistake not biggie lol
ganeshran Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 No way they are messing up the batting order. Its been the same for ages and save one tour, worked quite well
jusarrived Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 I actually think it isnt a bad idea . Honestly its too much to expect Virat to play with the tail in his first big test series . if our batsmen show form it wont really matter who bats where , but if lose early wickets I would rather have Virat waling in a little early .

chainsmoker1985 Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Not a bad idea. Laxman won't be alone, he will have MSD and R Ashwin to follow. Better give some time and comfort to younger (Virat or Rohit) batsman.
Needforspeed Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 yeah it'll space out the experience of Lax n Dravid Actually its a good idea..but also depends on the situation. If India lose 3 wickets quickly and the ball is doing a bit, then it is better to send Laxman to stabilise things a bit..Kohli may be nervous and may result in India being 4 down. If the 3rd wicket falls at an OK score then Kohli can come in. I don't read anything in the cricinfo list. That is just random. I dont think the Indian team management will share their plans with cricinfo.
Sachinism Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 It wouldn't be the worst move. Laxman seems adept at playing with the tail. Kohli might be under extra pressure if he gets left with the tail
ganeshran Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Regardless of the merits of the move, It is very unlikely that the team management will make such changes. VVS did bat at number 6 below Ganguly in a few series but after Dada retired, it has been steady at number 5.
Pagalpanti Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 They didn't do it during WI series so I doubt they'll do it now. Not a bad idea as many of you suggest but don't see it happening.
Viki_J Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Nope' date='ci is wrong.[/quote'] I hope it is:nervous:
Number Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I feel Kohli batting at no. 5 will solve some problems. After losing VVS we are in panic state and that puts too much pressure on Young no. 6 and technically vulnerable Dhoni. I feel Dhoni can bat better with VVS. I hope they bat him at no. 5.
