A speed gun can't be wrong if it shows 4-5 pacers in a match consistently over 140. BTW the same speed gun also showed some deliveries of Umesh' over post tea at 134 and 137. The moment he put in the extra effort, he was up to 145-146. As for Ishant he was around 147-148 and consistently over 140 in WI as well where the track had more bounce. You could see him run harder and trying to bowl fast today, could be due to frustration at not picking too many wickets, or the way Yadav has been bowling or due to the team management giving the two pacers the license to go flat out and bowl at their quickest. on a dead track actually.in helpful conditions he can get the batsman by movement. I'm not much sure about the speeds coz i was watching Star Cricket:wall: but Yadav wasnt loking that quick in after tea spell.still he clocked 137 shows u something is wrong.

Then you have got it all messed up. Anyways credit to the Indian bowlers for hitting 150+. Ishant now has the fastest delivery by an Indian in test cricket, 152.2 kmph. Without sounding like a pace fanatic, watching those speeds on the gun is great. And its not that they have just bowled fast without any control, Umesh has 7 wickets, Ishant has bolwed 2-3 outstanding spells. Who knows watching these bowlers run in and bowl quick may inspire some young Indian kids to take up to fast bowling. Lastly as quick as 145 or even 147-148 sounds, 150 is a magical number. Hope these guys continues to bowl such speeds for the rest of the tour as well.

CG Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Speed guns are screwed up I think it peoples head which are screwed up to believe indians fastbowlers are clocking 150+,Channel nine has been has pretty decent speed guns over time,Same speed gun showed zaheer khan clocking 125-139km/h.The pitch was at its best on day 3 still bowlers bowled at high speeds that made it difficult three inside edges point to that .We would have know the diff in speed and result had likes of vk played.

There is some difference in pace in Aus always and they certainly show a bit higher pace than in other countries, around 5K, IMO, not more than that.

Hope these guys continues to bowl such speeds for the rest of the tour as well. yeah they had control thats whats impressive about them.as for inspiring others,youngsters should be motivated anyway to bowl fast as we seem to pick them up quite quickly. important thing for them is to maintain pace n be effective with it.we have seen Munaf n others slw down.important these two dont do that. unlike u I'm not into numbers,whether its 150 or 145 or 140 important thing is to take wickets.as long as they r doing that,speed is immaterial for me

There is some difference in pace in Aus always and they certainly show a bit higher pace than in other countries, around 5K, IMO, not more than that.[/quote'] They have rarely errors like these so their speed cameras are calibrated accurately rather than others ,You see bouncers clock the higest speed in southafrica,In nz sky has accurate speed guns,In england also they have pretty accurate speed cameras.But espn star,tensports have the worst and we get this- vye1SQHoGdg and worse spinners clocking 140km/h

Wasim Akram himself said it was heartwarming to see 2 Indian bowlers hitting 150 consistently. And I never doubt Wasim's assessments as he is normally unbiased. And lolz at those who are questioning the speed and asking about how a pitch would change the speed. Tell me something simple. Do you like walking long distance on a hot sunny day with temperature of 45 degrees or would you prefer running on a cool early morning with temperature of 15 degrees ? If you did not get my point, when the conditions are right we are easily able to up our performance. Happens all the time with me when I do long distance running. Anyone from Bangalore would know how chilly it is on Nandi hills . Its 16kms up and down and I do it with much ease there, than doing a 10km run in Kanteerva,main city. And these are international players. obviously when they see balls just flying off the pitch, they are motivated to bowl even faster. Cant help quoting Srinath ,he always said that in Australia he used to get carried away to bowl faster and faster seeing the bounce . But that was when he would calm his nerves down. Also, please do not say that Ishant and Umesh are the first Indians to hit 150. Srinath has done it plenty in his younger days...Only he is not given credit.

What were ashwin's speed like?? were not they similar to what he bowled against west indies??
