The Outsider Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Isn't it some form of nepotism.. would they have have paid similar amount to the hard-working-skilled-family-to-support repair-shop waala?.. esp when back in those times (IIRC) you would get a fresh radio for 1000 Rs. :headshake: and that too w/o receipt/records :winky: Yaar, it was one of those huge things from the 40s-50s and you really couldn't find trained guys for it. In fact it still works well and I have put my foot down on it being dumped away to a kabaadi. 1000 rupaaiye mein 20 saal ki guarantee kahan milti hai?
Ram Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Won a lot of prizes in high-school and college (was part of the music band, technical symposiums, paper presentations, debates, quizzes etc). So never really had to rely on dad for pocket-money. My partner and I once won 10,000 rupees in a single day. Like all charitable donations, these were all tax-free. :yay:
gaurav92 Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 matlab pooot ne apney pair paalney mein hee dikha diye the. Jee ? Main kuch samjha nahi
akshayxyz Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 Jee ? Main kuch samjha nahi hmm... hate to do this पूत के पॉंव पालने में दिखना = बचपन में ही आपके हुनर / विद्या का मुझाहिरा (not sure about this spelling/word). So you were able to showcase (and even get paid for) your accountancy skills much earlier than you were actually professionally trained for. itt waaj aaa kaampliment.
ganeshran Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 man.. good one.. looks like I need to revise "my first paycheck".. Another quiz show, class 5th, I was sitting in audience.. and quizzer asked - "In which City one would see 'Gondolas' ". When participating teams failed to answer, host turned to audience - and I was quick to raise hands.. my heart was pounding out of anxiety, as host didn't pick me at first few attempts from audience.. .. finally when it came to me, I almost choked.. so I had to repeat couple of times "Venice madam..".. and the prize money was - "Maggi".. not any bag or something... actually smallest packet of Maggi.... And that was the first time I held Maggi in my hands (tab tak sab Ads mein hee dekha tha).. So when I brought it home, I had no idea how to cook it.. so me and my sister boiled it with milk and sugar (clue sevaiyaan..), and as far as i remember - it didn't taste that bad. ya that was the quiz. Maggi packets are the audience prize and schoolbags for the winners. I got 2 schoolbags but they didnt give cash I did win 100 bucks at Tambola in 7th standard at the school carnival
