Well we did win a Series against England in England during the 2007 tour but was the craze , hype , satisfaction , joy even 1% of what it was during the world cup ? Would a Series win come anywhere closer to unite the entire country and the entire Indian disapora around the World like a World Cup Match ? Leave alone comparing different formats of cricket with a world cup . no other sporting event in the World can match the magnitude of Indo-Pak clash that existed from moment the Semi-finalists were settled and the match ended . I still get goosebumps while thinking about the probability of a Pakistani win on that day , they would have not only shattered the World Cup dream of India right down in our own country but also could have gone on to lift the Trophy in Mumbai , the same city which was terrorized by Pak Jihadis not long ago . What an utter humiliation that would have been . Thank God , we won that day and against a couple of days later so that atleast for a day or two all Indians whether In India or abroad celebrated together. No Series Victory anywhere can give us those Priceless Memories of a World Cup + Mohali Victory that will be cherished forever.

They may be mildly disappointed but nothing major. But mention Centurion, Mohali, Bangalore or Johannesburg (2007 World T20 final) and see how they behave.

Its not a lottery ticket that if I dont win I will forget about it. I am totally an ICFer and that means I dont forget test match loss. Whether it is a WI tour (84-85) of india after 83 WC or all those loses in 90s or what happened in 2007 in Aus. Every thing is so fresh.

No way. I love test cricket but WORLD CHAMPIONS 2011 haha is a key jewel you need in your cabinet trophy. But returning to no1 test ranking is too. However, with tests you can afford odd bad series but a world cup only comes once every 4 years. T20 is a joke I mean ODI wc.
