He has never forgiven his dad for actually trying to negotiate with the kidnappers. Till this day he did not reveal what has been done to him in the captivity. :((

You should have asked him for a receipt.

Till this day he did not reveal what has been done to him in the captivity. :(( Poor kid. But negotiating is, I have read, always a good idea. Absence of negotiation sends the wrong message. The kidnappers might get an idea to make a second demand assuming that the father has more resources than they estimated.
