IKnowU Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Meh why are we worrying about dhobi when we have a bigger problem on our hands? We need to get rid of the seniors first, then Dhobi replacement can be discussed later on. Other then Saha we dont have any candidates at all other then Dinesh Karthik.
ZodiaC Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Captaincy is a worry, but it's secondary, we just need to get our batting unit straight first. Then captaincy. And DK is absolute **** behind stumps, Saha was really good behind stumps but yet to be convinced of his batting abilities. Sure needs to give him a shot though.
BeautifulGame Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 ^ May be not a former wicketkeeper but times have changed. Take his batting out of the equation, do u think he would have been made the captain? More than that there are players like saha doing far better than dhoni both behind and in front of the stumps. Saha has done better based on what? He played 2 tests in the flattest condtions u would expect to play and he flopped with the bat in both. I am not saying he is rubbish because any youngster needs a decent run before being judged positively or negatively. But to say he is doing far better than Dhoni is ridiculous. What exactly are u basing this on to come to that conclusion. I agree he should be removed of test captaincy if we have better captain but he is still the best wicket Keeper batsmen available in the country. Havent u seen how even technically strong DK struggles when confronted with pitches that offer some movement in Ranji Trophy? It isnt easy for an Wicket keeper to score tough alien conditions.Just look how clueless even Prior(who is a better batsman than Dhoni) is looking in Dubai. Also he has the captaincy pressure added to it unlike other WKs of past or in other teams.Yet he is one of the best so why would u drop him? As i earlier said people need to stop expect Dhoni to produce ODI form in test cricket and view him as a WK batsman not as a pure batsman. Also Dhoni deserves a run in the team as WK batsmen without the pressure of captaincy before being considered to be dropped.
The Dark Horse Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 We dont expect centuries from him all the time. its just that we dont need a walking wicket at no. 7. Every time he comes into bat in testing conditions its only a matter of time before he gets out.
panther Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 too much player power and influence in indian cricket
Pagalpanti Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Everyone criticizing Dhoni's test batting can anyone point me out any former Indian former wicket keeper who had better away record in tests better than Dhoni? Even in current form only Prior has done better than Dhoni as a wicket Keeper batsmen? People need to stop expect Dhoni to produce ODI form in test cricket and view him as a WK batsman not as a pure batsman. DK averages 40+ in England & 100+ in SA. :giggle:
Sarkar Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 too much player power and influence in indian cricket Better than living in Jails.
panther Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Better than living in Jails. :haha::haha::haha::haha::haha:
J P K Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 DK averages 40+ in England & 100+ in SA. :giggle: without keeping wicket i guess even patel was doing well as a batman but after keeping wickets he became pathetic batsman
BeautifulGame Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 DK averages 40+ in England & 100+ in SA. :giggle: And in which of those tests he kept wickets? And infact Dhoni averaged better than Karthick in that England series despite keeping wickets.
punjabi_khota Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 As much as we would like to believe , The Sehwag-Dhoni spat is NOT made up. What is made-up is the apparent unity for the TV cameras and the gullible fans . Media perception is tightly controlled and managed by the BCCI. I trust the TOI journos have been able to get the inside scoop on the ego-clash in the Indian team. it is natural for antagonism to build up in ANY team that is failing repeatedly. :hysterical::hysterical: The only inside scoop they can manage is from the insides of their ass to dig out some shyte and publish it.
asterix Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 The topic is about 'losing test captaincy'. I don't think Dhoni will like to play just as a WK in the team... So he may opt out.. So stop right there before it becomes a KKD Vs Dhoni thread..

Needforspeed Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Like all the press crap, someone is going to deny this too. With nothing coming from the players or the Board, the press is having a field day.
jf1gp_1 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I agree drop Dhoni Dravid VVS Urgently from Test Team, drop gambhir also from test team for a short duration to let him focus on batting , dhoni shud be replaced by saha in tests...sehwag can be asked to bat at no 4 and Sachin shud open with abhinav Mukund in tests..... Ishant shud not be dropped totally from team but shud not play in eleven, sreesanth and Varun aroon shud be picked ahead of him...india test pace battery shud include Dinda,Umesh, Zak, Varun Aroon sreesanth and Ishant...if Sree is fit , he cud play else Ishant...I am in favour of improving ishant n not Drop him......drop VK who is Karnataka class bowler not international class Drop Duncan Drop Eric, get Donald or Srinath to coach or sombody better , not prasad. Get Rohit, Pujara, Mukund, Dinda and possibly Saurabh Tiwary into Tests soon and also if irfan is in form try him. did you accidentally write sachin ?
Old guy Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 nah i think with new team we need him but hee needs to back up fast bowlers more and dont just rely on zack other then few things he is good captain..we dont have any better person then him to captain will u give captaincy to ssehwag ,gambhir both can be out of team nay day to kohli who can get out of contorl easily ? there is no candidate for captaincy
Magneto Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Make Ashwin the captain. all-rounder hai, CSK hai, has been good in press conferences too. Presently fits in all three forms of the game. Can easily captain the team for the next 5 years. I have a feeling he'll also shed off all the extra dosa weight once he is given responsibility. And that will help all you Bhajji-haters to shut out Bhajji for a good, long time.

Manny_Pacquiao Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 in defence of dhoni, i think it's pretty clear that he is just a figurehead of a captain. he doesn't run the test team because he still defers to the seniors on matters of team selection. think about it - dhoni had absolutely no problem in abruptly ending the careers of dravid and ganguly when he took over the ODI team. he may not be a great test captain, but his ODI teams are typically good fielding sides and show more energy. but if he wanted to get rid of the old farts on account of crappy form, would be allowed to? i doubt it. there would be an uproar. the seniors are the ones that run the indian test team, not dhoni. he just shuts up, sets the field and plays the role of a bus driver by taking questions at the end of the game. this worked well when the seniors were doing OK, but when everyone fails and you need changes, its very difficult to go against their big reputations. this is in complete contrast to the way he works in ODIs, where he routinely uses young players, gives them the responsibility of batting higher up, bowling more frequently, drops himself down the order to selflessly accommodate. the result of this is a great ODI team with good reserves, capable of being competitive and winning even when 4/5 top players are missing. players that generally don't do well consistently are always dropped. compare that situation to the test team - where dravid retains his place after years and years of failure, where laxman cant be replaced even tho he looks like a walking wicket. even tho we are talking about two different formats here, you can see the difference in the way both teams operate - its almost like night and day. this is why i still have some hope for dhoni as captain. if he gets the job on his own terms and is allowed to do things HIS way and pick HIS team, we would have much better results. but this cant happen as long as all the seniors are around.
Zero_Unit Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Dhoni is probably saying "Meh, WTV! I already took India to #1 ranking and have a WC under my belt. Mission Accomplished... "
