vishalvirsingh Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I feel embarassed a bowler slower than Kumble is eating up a pacer"s birth

kabira Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Where is Munaf Patel?? He was our best ODI bowler last year.
express bowling Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 We must select a couple of bowlers who can be strike bowlers even in ODIs. Praveen must go.
saneindian Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 He used to swing the new ball even on flattest of wickets for first 4-5 overs and used to be very accurate with the new ball. Somehow seems to have lost it post his rib injury. Once Umesh, Aaron, Munaf, Zaheer are all fit , may not retain his place in the ODI side.

I dont think rib injury had anything to do with his poor bowling. Problem is he used to keep it simple before. He still can swing it but try to do too much. Another thing is his fitness has gone down. He has gained weight and lost stamina that is why he is losing accuracy and also is low in pace.
AAAA Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Is there no decent bowlers in India? Please for the love of cricket can we not find a decent fast bowler.
Old guy Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Is there no decent bowlers in India? Please for the love of cricket can we not find a decent fast bowler. we ve had our share of naturally talented ones like ishant and umesh now its upto team management to turn them into match winners if u think abt it.. talent wise we are up there but we have lose so many bowlers :((
Cricket Tragic Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 You know things are bad when everyone is hoping for Vinay Koomar to get fit.

Dravid_TheWall Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 You know things are bad when everyone is hoping for Vinay Koomar to get fit. Yep
Old guy Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 :cantstop: u want to see his natural talent? it was his natural pace, zip of wicket... and height.. u cant bowl near 150 w/o talent... he lost his zip but that does not mean he wasnt talented before dont u remember his comparison with brett lee how ishant was quicker off pitch ?
Dravid_TheWall Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 u want to see his natural talent? it was his natural pace, zip of wicket... and height.. u cant bowl near 150 w/o talent... he lost his zip but that does not mean he wasnt talented before dont u remember his comparison with brett lee how ishant was quicker off pitch ? :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Maybe this is also the problem with selectors, either they choose trundlers or persist with someone because he has height and pace, can't believe he has played close to 50 tests with hardly any serious match winning spells and average approaching 40. Ishant was never talented. Mediocre at best and hardworking, he really is easy to play for test batsmen, don't care about his personal stats like height and build :cantstop: Remember Skill > Anything
Cricket Tragic Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 All our seamers are poor. Let's just accept that. It saves a lot of times wasted on these debates on ICF.

Raghav_12 Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I think Munaf is still decent option for ODI's. He has had good outing in Deodhar trophy as well.
Vijy Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I think Munaf is still decent option for ODI's. He has had good outing in Deodhar trophy as well. +1 Munaf was the only other pacer to do decently apart from Zak in the WC, and he's been injured for quite some time. He should walk into the team as should Zaheer for all the important matches. The third pacer can be either be Irfan, PK, VK, BK or any other K.
