Former Queensland paceman Dawes' trademark as bowling coach with the Bulls and Redbacks has been creating bowling "wolf packs" to group hunt batsmen. India wants the same from exceptional communicator Dawes, 41, for a side that has endured consecutive series whitewashes while touring England and Australia. "I am sorry to be leaving South Australia, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Darren Berry and being part of the culture he has fostered with the Redbacks and the Strikers," said Dawes, who has developed a young fleet of first-class tyros including Peter George (26 wickets), rookie Joe Mennie (20) and Gary Putland (13) since arriving in Adelaide last June. "To be able to take that knowledge and apply it in the international arena was too great an opportunity to miss, and it is with some sadness that I will be leaving at the end of the season. "I've seen the bowling group grow a lot this season." Towering Indian speedster Ishant Sharma is a shadow of 2008 sensation who rocketed through at 150km/h while the likes of Sreesanth and Irfan Pathan have been lost in the system. "Find of the tour" Yadav is the one India paceman who can consistently bowl at 150km/h and "give back to others what we have been receiving for years", noted Indian opener Gautam Gambhir. Dawes - a respected workhorse in Queensland's golden first class run from 1997-2004 with 285 wickets in 76 matches - must save Yadav and aspiring tearaways from a scrapheap littered with shooting stars who burned out on flat subcontinent pitches. India also needs a new spearhead with decorated 83-Test left-armer Zaheer Khan now 33. "I can also see lots of emerging talent within the Indian group and it is very exciting to be able to move into a strong system within the BCCI," said Dawes, instrumental in Queensland's production line of fast bowlers and the evolution of Ryan Harris as a Test spearhead. Harris was crestfallen when Dawes was lured away from Queensland last winter having been "a major part" of his rise to the baggy green. Dawes will join India highly recommended by two coaches familiar to the India Cricket Board Deccan and Queensland coach Darren Lehmann and former Rajasthan mentor now South Australian boss Berry. Dawes replaces sacked Eric Simons who had been with the side for two years. They must organize a camp at NCA and all the states association should send their contenders to the camp for the selection in that fast bowling pool. This will be a good way to see a lot of bowlers at one roof and then decide and assess who has the potential and can become an international prospect in future. There should not be any limit to this pool, 20 is minimum.

In fact, our batting has become worse since his appointment and our bowling has not improved either.

Given his size and the fact that he is an ex cop doubt that being controlled bit will happen. Plus most of the seam attack is relatively young Isnt Umesh an ex policeman too??

What more can you expect from bcci,Allthough they might have also asked captain and coach views on the matter,Lets see what they have seen in this motu.Hope he turns out to be a good coach for our young bowlers,But i doubt looking at his credentials,somebody who has played test cricket with some success would have been ideal as he would have commanded respect and also he would know the lengths to bowl on diff pitches.
