He had also given trial in Jharkhand for Ranji team but was not picked because of regionalism and nepotism. All Bihar players are allowed to play for Jharkhand but Jharkhand does not take them as they have already taken Tejasvi Yadav as Bihar quota. Same thing has happened with Uttarakhand cricketers in UP. Rehan Khan used to bowl along side Varun Aaron and Rahul Shukla in the nets.

To add to the woe, Rehan just turned 22 on 8th of Feb which means he cannot participate in the Fast bowler hunt in Ranchi either ! Amit Yaar He is still 22, it means he can still participate in trial by NCA. it is not only U22, guys age 17-22 all can participate, not 23.

prashsenga Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 How cynical have we as cricket fans or as a whole society become.. here someone is doing some good and we tend to be cynical, full of doubts, asking about success guarantee, pointing out the futility blah blah... the point here is not about success but of intent to do something productive and the least we can do is being appreciative of it.. I think its a great initiative by RAF and vijay and even if Rehan manages to meet venky that would be a step in the right direction. at least this will act as a motivation for other unsung heroes... with regards to trundlers preferred over the faster ones, its because there have not been that many fast bowlers and we dont give them a long rope... its got to do with our grooming of fast bowlers and not with the talent of the yadav's and aaron's... this is a step in the right direction and who knows the future superstar could be your gully side cricketer who never went to the elitist schools from where BCCI recruits... I salute your intentions guyz....:hatsoff::hatsoff:

In defense of Rehan, he has played state level matches with almost all Ranji teams and everywhere he has been the fastest bowler ( as he and his teammates claim ) . And even while practising with Varun Aaron , he was almost as fast as him. He said he was clocked at 142-143, 2 yrs back in Kolkatta. He should have some talent. Even if not, it never hurts to try. If guys like Vinay Kr can be given a chance, then we should take chances with others... Cheers Amit

Even writing to Gangu dada might help. Don't go to Bengaluru or contact TENVIC, the bastion of trundlers.

They seem naturally strong and athletic... the type of bodies that would suit fast bowling

sobnesh Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 RAF any updates on Rehan's visit to Bangalore? Did he attend any other talent hunts? I think Gatorade conduct talent hunts every year. So if he can some how attend them and bowl as well as he had bowled in the videos I think he can get attention. One more suggestion from my side is to try and look for an oppertunity if possible to make Rehan bowl in Kings11Punjab camp as they have Indian bowling coach Joe Dawes as their bowling consultant. I really appriciate your good will gesture to help Rehan.

ONce i get his number, I will forward it to CNN-IBN and they will call him and he may meet Anil Kumble through them.
