express bowling Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 This is one of the rare occasions when a team is playing without any pace bowler.
vvvslaxman Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 you really want to watch this speeds? :cantstop: plz close the thread guys
express bowling Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Among Indians it is a competition of " who can bowl the slowest slower delivery ? " :--D
SLICKR392 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Among Indians it is a competition of " who can bowl the slowest slower delivery ? " :--D In the death overs and get a wicket.
chainsmoker1985 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Sree contributed nothing to the world cup campaign. ZK' date=' Nehra, Munaf showed that an attack does not need pace to succeed, even in subcontinental conditions. A high quality quick is always handy, but as is a high quality medium pacer.[/quote'] I read your recent posts on Indian bowling. And 1 thing I just can't understand, what makes you think that our medium pacers are good enough to be world class bowlers and pace is just a useless factor in any bowler's development. Do you realize that with current bowling we are matching Bangladesh with their bowling line-up? We r no better than BD in this Asia cup with the bowling line-up that we played in first match. I mean literally, just look at Murtaza, Shahdat Hossain and Islam and compare them 2 ours. One more thing, pace is not everything but pace is a very important factor in any bowler's armory. An international level bowler is always incomplete without pace. Just like a Grand-prix car, that got to have speed, control and all other factors but the basic thing will always be speed. Similarly, a fast bowler got to have, pace, swing, control, reverse swing, ability to take wickets, setting the batsmen up, making use of the crease and stamina. But, if a fast bowler is not fast, then the rest of the factors becomes non-existent.

MCcricket Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 It is quite simple, pace makes the batsmen commit mistakes, trundlers do not have low strike rates, they are dependent on condtions and are waiting for batsmen to give his wicket or commit error. What makes a side great , the first criteria is the bowling attack, the ability to get a side out , not to say there aren't exceptions to the rule, like a very good swing bowler or a left hand bowler who bowls 135 to 140 k's.A trundler is akin to a batsmen who aggregates runs by getting ones and two's, he can't hit boundaries or sixes, he will not put pressure on the fielding side and will not win games for the side, maybe a side can afford only one such player if he is versatile and contributes as a allrounder ala A Mathews.

Thats why it is surprising to see Dhoni persisting with 3 swing bowlers and keeping Dinda out of playing 11....:((
ganeshran Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 This thread is about speeds of bowlers in the Asia cup. I have moved the posts regarding Sreesanth to his watch thread, Please continue the discussion there.
the don Posted March 16, 2012 Author Posted March 16, 2012 umar gul and aizaz cheema have been the fastest in the asia cup by a distance, both clocked faster speeds than lasith malinga yesterday, the indian bowlers are all similar paced medium pacers ,safe to say even dinda is a trundler.
msb1991 Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 136kph top speed in 2 overs makes you a trundler? I'd dare say there were days where Steyn was a trundler then. Heck, whole series' where Mcgrath was a trundler.
vishalvirsingh Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Dinda bowled 138K on this dead track......I think all bowlers r Slower here
Dravid_TheWall Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 ^ You guys made Dinda out to be mega quick, he is fast medium at best. Like I said before he bowls average of early 130's and can take it to 140 occasionally. Anyway speed is not the be all and end all but just commenting on this thread which is speed watch.

express bowling Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 136kph top speed in 2 overs makes you a trundler? I'd dare say there were days where Steyn was a trundler then. Heck' date=' whole series' where Mcgrath was a trundler.[/quote'] A trundler is a bowler who neither has pace in the air ( as shown by the speed gun ) OR pace and bounce off the pitch ( which McGrath had ). Hit the deck kind of bowlers are not trundler if they can bowl 130 k +. Dinda has been fast-medium to medium fast as far as pace in the air is concerned but has hit the deck hard and got some bounce on occasions. So, he has neither been a trundler nor fast but somewhere inbetween.
express bowling Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Yep. Average 133kph and up to 140kph is the regular speed for a high quality pace bowler. That speed is ok for a highly skilled bowler. Question is, whether Dinda is highly skilled for international cricket ? Only time will tell. If he is not highly skilled for bowling to international batsmen then he will have to be quicker.

McGrath and Gillespie in later years may have lost but def not trundlers..
