Utalk Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I woke up this morning to the news that Rahul Dravid has announced his retirement from cricket. This is a sad yet a proud day for cricket across the world. Rahul Dravid is the most respected cricketer of his generation. What sets him apart from his more flamboyant compatriots is his grit and sheer determination that enabled him to get maximum out of his talent. Here was a guy who was surrounded by cricketers who took all the limelight and headlines but Rahul carried on doing his best at the crease. He was not as gifted as say a tendulkar or laxman but matched them for productivity. As a Pak fan we had some epic battles against India 1999-2007 and Dravid was always regarded as the key wicket. He was up for a fight every time he came out to bat and bowlers knew they would have to earn his wicket. Rahul was a true ambassador of the game on and off the field.Sport will be poorer without him. There are very few of his kind around. Rahul thanks for wonderful memories over the years and we wish you every success with your future plans.

Despite all his achievements he always kept his feet on the ground and was a brilliant ambassador not only for India but for the game world wide. He was always a fighter but never arrogant, always competitive but always humble. Wish him all the best in the future.

khanjee Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 A true legend of the game...we will miss him...love his batting, his attitude and the way he went about business...a perfect role model for others.I just wish our players will look up to a guy like rahul dravid and learn something...and i'm not talking about batting since that is something that can't be learn but the way this guy handle himself..for him it was always about team.. I still do not believe it that Dravid is not going to be around no more..I guess I will the next time I see india test 11 with out Mr Wall in the line up.. Iconoclast Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 :hatsoff: to RD .. one of the most respected and admired cricketers of his generation. However I think it was maybe a bit too early for him to retire. He's in better shape than Tendulkar, Laxman and even Sehwag .. I would have liked to see him continue through India's upcoming home series next year.
