Its not that technique is not tested in t20 particularly in challenging conditions ' date='in t20 worldcup in sa he saved us there also when picthes were bowler firendly .In odis in wi our other batsman also did worse even if pitches were not as bouncy as tests.[/quote'] u remember who our "other" batsmen were in west indies ? im not saying aina or parthiv are better then rohit .. kohli played 2 good innings.. again.. his problem is not bouncer .. its ball rising outside of of stump.. he cant play it w/o risk... i have seen him completely get stuck and then trying to hit ball hard and giving easy catch.. happened 2 timesi n cb series atleast 3 times in south africa specially against tstobe. in t20.. that is not a problem u generally slog out those balls .. bowlers dont ball that length at all he needs to tighten up his game.. learn a way to get 1- easily otherwise he would end up wasting his so called talent like he has done until now against good teams

In odis it may be a problem as he tries to play shot a ball, but in tests he will be more selective as his fc average of 63 shows.

In the name of some experience, a comeback for the likes of Badri and Kaif, with heaps of FC experience (and in case of Kaif, considerable int'l experience), even if for a series or two, cannot be ruled out especially if both VVS and SRT are gone and Sehwag/GG aren't able to get back to their good test form in the next 12 months. Even Jaffer, had he been a couple of years younger could have had another shot at test cricket but at 34 and fitness not as good as that of either Kaif or Badri, his time may well be over.

Possibly. But I guess it should not matter much in Tests.
it does matter ... he should either open or play at 3... kohli at 4 ... some one like rohit at 5 who is a natural stroke player would prefer pujara ahead of rohit but right now none of them are in good enough form to be in team

I can imagine if rohit does well in tests what will same people say.:--D
we would be happy. We are talking about current situation. virat kohli didn't take this much time to establish himself. Rohit is taking far too much time.

In test matches for most of the scenarios, openers and a 1 down are specialists in my opinion. Positions 4-6 are notional and can be interchanged.

Sehwag at 7? That means you'll have only 3 bowlers. I know that our bowling is bloody awesome but....
Oh yea!*Thanks for pointing out. Sehwag/ Rohit / Dhoni one of them play.

Openers:-Gambhir & Sehwag(still better than Mukund) Middle order:-3)Kohli,4)Rohit(when Sachin finally hangs his boots),5)Pujara, 6)Rahane(He doesn't open in FC matches for Mumbai but he can open the innings & can also play in the middle-order so he'll be a good bet for the 2nd new ball). Some reserves:-Mandeep Singh of punjab,Manoj Tiwary,Badrinath,Rayudu, Manish Pandey,Robin Bist,Surya Kumar Yadav & our very own Jaddu.I think he's batting is well suited for tests & he's bowling will be handy in the subcontinental conditions.
