I think he failed only in Australia that too against Australia alone. Done well against other teams. When India whitewashed NZ in India he was the leading wicket taker.

This is his first year in international cricket and considering that he has done reasonably well for us. He definitely is going to get better, and hopefully he will learn a lot of variations as he goes along. Considering that Kumble and Bhajji have historically been poor against Lankans, Ashwin's performance against them is very commendable.

People assuming Ashwin is a 400 wicket taker. He has both responsibilities to stop runs and then to take wickets too. He is just making his way and apart from Australia in Australia he has done well against every team and also remember akela chana bhaad nahi fod sakta.

49 wickets in 33 games with average of 28 is not bad and he has never taken more than 3 wickets in a game. so that means he has been consistent. His economy rate 4.77. He has bowled on flat decks most of the time. I will take that any day. Dhoni needs to use him as attacking option..

well done :two_thumbs_up: main thing is he does pick 2-3 wickets a game quite a lot which makes him an attacking spinner rather than a darter who is there just to stop runs.. i hope he destroys pak, the way pakis have struggled against the english spinners, ashwin should be hell handy + he should bowl quite a lot of top spinners nd carrom ball
