The players in the current team are good but they simply have lost the confidence after many defeats' date=' so they need to be rested and playing in domestic matches to get confidence back. The current lot is pretty good atleast in terms of batsmen.[/quote'] Lol, Gambhir, Sehwag, Sachin and Yuvraj are in bad for because of defeats? Gambhir has been shyte since 2010, Sehwag since late 2010, Sachin after WC and Yuvraj was never a test player. Ojha and Ashwin were not even part of those defeats. This is worst batting line-up I have seen for Indian team.

Why are you fools picking on Gavaskar? He's right.
:haha: Indeed. Most of the fans say the same shyt here and pounce on Gavaskar if he has two words to say.

Here's how I rank them: Power House: South Africa, Australia, England and India. Average: Pakistan, Sri Lanka, West Indies and New Zealand. Minnows: Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. We're the weakest amongst the powerhouse teams, but we can easily smash the average/minnow teams. Pakistan is overrated, they recently lost a series against a weak Sri Lankan side.
We fall in the second tier right now

Spinner friendly tracks are our still best bet. We are not good enough to take advantage on extreme tracks - ranks turners and flat tracks. We need pitches which offer some help to everyone.

Fitness, coaching , selection , leadership, commitment etc ... all of these are worries for the Indian team at the moment, only a legend like Gavaskar could have blamed the situation on just arriving 45mins later than the opposition

Indian players, particularly bowlers lack the MOST important quality of sport - Mental Strength. Tendulkar was hit by a Waqar bouncer on nose at 16 and still he continued to bat in that innings. Kumble bowled a deceptive spell to Lara and got him out with a broken jaw. You think we will ever get such tough players in the current era?

Yuvraj is the biggest problem for me. He has no credentials what so ever to be in the Test team. Dhoni has been a poor captain, wrong decisions at every level. Sachin may not be the biggest, is definitely a problem, questions will be raised when 39 year old doesn't score for long.
but why questions just against him ? im not seeing any one going after dhoni's head maybe only some threads on this site.. no one says naything abt yuvraj i have been against his such quick come back from start i guess people just selected him on emotions...

My strategy for Kolkata game Keep England in the field for a long time and run rate low. How is this possible? Eng are not positive anyway bar KP. Also do a 7-2 off side field and bowl wide of off stump. We did this successfully against Australia. This way they will max score 150 runs all day and few wickets down through frustration. This means we will have to bat hopefully half of day 4 and rest of day 5 to save game on a flat deck. Possible? No point doing whatever else we have planned.. Then for next test see my previous thread!

We lost one series since summer 2010 in Eng and there we won 2/6 tests. SL series was a downer but anyone who watched that first test we lost will know that umpiring played an important role in the outcome. Misbah was banned for that game too. Anyone suggesting we are a mediocre side currently is out of touch with the current situation. We won in NZ and beat Eng and SL at home convincingly.

Any correlation between excessive money and lackluster Test performances? This is the question that we should not ask. Because if this question is asked, a whole bunch of people will accuse the person raising this topic. Do any of you feel that excess money in Indian cricket (to players, to boards, to BCCI netas etc) has spoiled the hardwork/commitment required for success in Test cricket? Not just the players, the ENTIRE SYSTEM seems to be frikkin' bloated! Belch! Belch! Do you have such a gut feeling?
