The fastest balls I have seen these 3 bowl, after the speed gun was regularly used from 1999, was Srinath. 150 k Waqar. 144 k Akram 142 k The fastest ball heard of before 1999 by these 3 pacers Srinath. 156 k Waqar. 153. k Wasim. 145 k So there you are. :hatsoff:

I have seen that video no where close to 150k 149 was in 1999 wc. He was at his quickest till 1997. He suffered a shoulder injury ans underwent a reconstruction surgery. In 1996, SA tour, he was quicker than Donald according to Alistair Campbell in that article. You can watch his bowling video of 1996 England tour that is one of the quickest stuff you would see by any fast bowler in test cricket.

But Shoaib's action was always suspect, to put it politely. After the speed guns have been used regularly, Indians have produced quicker pacers than Pakistan , among pacers with clean action. Only Pakistani chuckers were quicker. Makes you wonder whether the speed of Pakistani pacers before the speed gun era was largely hype and most of them were fast-medium only. Just like they are trying to. pass off a seam and swing bowler of ordinary pace , like Junaid , as fast. The speed gun is catching this hype but , in the 80s and 90s, they would have succeeded in marketing Junaid as fast.
