In hindsight the biggest reason for our inability to make it to semis was... deviating from the 7 batsman formula in the Aussie game. We should have gone with the 7-4 strategy which is the only successful formula we have ever had in shorter formats. Going with 5 bowlers, and that too a dead weight like Chawla in a crucial game against Aus was the one which hurt us a lot. We should know by now that Eng sucks against spin and performance of spinners against them should be taken with a sackful of salt. I have no doubt if we had played with the 7-4 formula we would have gone deep in the tourney as the pitches are beginning to slow down and ecoming more spin friendly, which is our strenth at the moment.

Ah thanks. Was completely off cricket during this period. All three finals against SL :cantstop: So, Kohli has played 4 finals, all against SL, won in 2 of them and has never reached 40 in any of the four matches. :hmmm:

But its easy to say this in hindsight.[/quote'] And the reason we didn't chase was the fact we were playing 5 bowlers. You generally chase when batting is your strength or playing an extra batsman. With 5 bowlers you can't win the toss and decide to chase.

We still managed to win 4 games. The only game we lost and were absolutely thrashed was when we played 5 bowlers instead of 7 batsmen.

Someone in the BCCI needs to leak his contract. Wll be interesting to know what the exit clause looks like. Must be heavily loaded in Fletcher's favour, thats the only reason I can think of for him not getting the sack from the BCCI babus.
