A strike rate of 110 ( as the Outside pointed out) is simply not good enough for a number 5-6 batsman. SR of 110 is in T20I. In T20, it is much higher. He is one of our best. Lets see how he performs in the WC.

As I said earlier T20Is are just nothing more than formality in tours. Just one/two match/matches in a tour is not taken seriously even by the players. Lets judge after this World T20.

Sid Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Dhoni will be great if he bats up the order(no late than 4),his modus operandi of building an innings at 5 or 6 doesnt benefits the team.I hope he plays like he played against the Bambis in the eliminator if he continues to bat at 5 or 6.Just pure attack without any fear or thought of consolidation. He is perfetly capable of destroying any attack provided the mindset is all positive.

I dont know about stats of Raina, Nohit, Gauti and Yuvi. And even if they had good stats, then why could not they get us through Super 8? Four in-form batsmen are outstanding for the team!

vvvslaxman Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Dhoni has been a failure in T20 internationals. That is irrefutable truth. Is he capable of turning it on. Sure he is.But somehow for inexplicable reasons he gets into "consolidation" mode in a T20 game. He doesn't even have to maximize his potential. He just has to be at 80% of his top game. For that to happen he has to either get rid of "consolidating" tactics or puts himself into a position where he has no luxury to consolidate.

He "delivered" the WC T20, World Cup, and number 1 rankings but when we got knocked out in first round of consecutive WC T20s and are currently at number 5 after losing 0-8 abroad it was due to "puncture" in the delivery van. Otherwise the van is working just fine.
