On paper it is not such a great T20 side. But they work well as a team. Few reasons you can list for their failure is 1) No Michael Hussey at the top 2) Bollinger's horrible form 3) Ashwin is not that much of a threat anymore main reason is Dhoni just doesn't give a damn.
