The whole point of IPL is to unearth players/youngsters who can come in and grasp their chances. Gurkeerat did that and then some more. At the end of the day its performance which matters and Gurkeerat delivered when it mattered, and he wasn't intimidated by Steyn when he came in.

like i said before gony is mediocre :headshake:
guys like jadeja, harbhajan, yadav are also classified as mediocre, gony is worse than that. And the lad played well, just as the OP said...you need a lot of balls to play such an innings and for the first time im seeing such a finish from an unheard batsman. even the commies were saying Ryan harris can bat but not sure about Gurkeerat's ability with the bat

Every fast bowler apart from Malinga is mediocre in T20. Malinga is one who can bowl well in 9 out of 10 matches. Otherwise, every one is taken apart in most matches.

Hope its not fluke... but have seen him playing against RR struggled a lot..there are couple of catches dropped still naot able to score many runs [guess most of ICFrs skipped that match]

It is fluke. nHis job was to throw the bat at everything that comes his way. He made 4 solid connections . We have seen such effort from tailenders well. May be he can repeat that couple more times. But his domestic records is not all that impressive suggesting it was an one-off performance. they kinda deserved it after they lost the match to mumbai from a winning position thanks to chawla.

His domestic record is good for a debutant, has scored a one day 100, SR is 88 in One day. He has not played FC matches yet.

Gurkeerat seems to have a wise head on his shoulders and a good temperament - good traits to have in a youngster.
you should watch highlights of KXP vs RR :giggle:

Valthaty had a good IPL last time. Valthaty also has a poor domestic record. I am not saying anything about what he is going become, but still he played some good shots there. Siddharth Chitniss has a reputation to be a big hitter for Mumbai and has played some crucial knocks for them, but he looks at sea whenever he plays in IPL. Some times, it is more than reputation or preconceived notions.
