Sooda Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 This is what one of the better ICF posters had to say about him about 2 years ago- http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showpost.php?p=1106828&postcount=47 Because I've watched Saha in the past, and I've watched Karthik. I've seen how poorly Karthik has kept in tests, combined with the fact that he's not always been a regular keeper and has been played as a batsman/fielder, which isn't good for his keeping consistency. Saha may not be the better batsman, but on keeping alone he has better footwork behind the stumps and is more confident and reliable when the ball's swinging (given his practice to Dinda/Bose on green Bengal wickets). Though in honesty, I would really like to see Maninder Bisla get a try. And my response then- Wicky, Bisla , really? I dont know a lot about Ranji cricket so dont know how good he is, I do remember he used to be an all rounder who bowled medium pace, and even played in the 02 U19 WC and did ok then. Was supposedly a promsing young player. DKK was actually the keeper in that WC. Is it HP he plays for now I think. Has he been keeping at the highest level long enough to be considered for Intls? Fine knock today anyway
vvvslaxman Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 This is like Collis king's innings in world cup final. He had a license to go after bowling. It worked for him. Won't read too much into it. M Vijay got 95 last IPL final. There you go.
Executioner Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 I think he was outstanding, whenever he got a chance, he delivered. KKR today had their best team today, though ofcourse Ill take out lee, bring in balaji in place for bhatia and also give a shot at tendo
jind Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 btw, funny thread and quotes lol considering that the OP doesn't seem like a IPL fan
Number Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Should've been regular in the KKR side. He wasn't doing bad when he got chances in League games. But overnight hero today. Won't be surprised if he gets into the Indian team for T20 world cup in place of Pappu. Also should appreciate his fitness, after keeping for 20 overs , he was there batting for 15 overs in Chennai heat and humidity. Also Kallis , bowled 4 overs and batted 17-18 overs. :hatsoff:
Vilander Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 What does Future hold for Bisla ? So IPL hero Bisla. Amazing counter attacking innings. He saw his captain and teams best batsmen Gauti get cleaned up, but went on to counter attack and eventually set up a famous win for his team. Who is this guy, what does the future hold for him. He is a wicket keeper batsman, not very young, looks like an uphill battle for him. Ultimate_Game Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 No need to get carried away after one knock in a T20 domestic tourney. 2 days ago it was Vijay, last year it was Valthaty etc. Let's wait for him to perform consistently and try to get into a Ranji team first before anointing him the next best thing.
superstar Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Lol what has he done in ranji? what has he done in IPL other than this one innings? Valthaty deserves a cap if we select players like this.
Ultimate_Game Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Can we pls hyping up players after one good performance in a T20 domestic tourney? 2 days ago someone was asking for Vijay to be in the Indian team, last year ppl wanted Valthaty to be in the Indian team. Can we stop giving in to such knee jerk reactions? Let Bisla perform consistently in domestic cricket and if he does well over tme he will get his chance. At the moment guys like Rohit, Rahane, Pujara, Mukund and even Manoj Tiwary are miles ahead of him.
superstar Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Nothing. 29 average in first class. By the time dhoni retires there will be someone new in the scene

Ultimate_Game Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 but they are not wicketkeepers Fair enough but a once-in-a-blue-moon innings doesn't get you into the national team. Dhoni will be around for another few years and Bisla will have to perform consitently to be the next man in the line. Currently I would pick Dinesh Karthik as he's the best of the sorry lot we have.
MCcricket Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 He was an India U19 player, when Wright was the coach his name was mentioned among the promising wicket keeper batsmen by him.His domestic record is not so impressive, maybe this season will help him kick off his game to the next level.
yoda Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Well for one KKR can give him perm spot in the XI so we can see what he can do on a consistent basis.
jairamesh Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 What does Future hold for Bisla ? well a big fat juicy auction in 2013. And with a dearth of quality Indian keepers, he has probably trebled his probable final bid price with that innings. and with few more decent innings in CL 2012, he could well be looking at $500k plus. So in a nutshell, nowadays playing for India is not "be all, end all", IPL auctions are what holds the future for these players.
