"We have decided to announce Modi as the party's prime ministerial candidate on August 11. However, we are keeping the schedule a bit flexible to make adjustments in case of any unavoidable situation," a senior party leader said on condition of anonymity.

On the MPs letter to Obama about Modi: I just read an interview from Thirumavalavan(a DMK coalition MP in TN) in a tamil magazine acknowledging he did sign the letter with his full consent and saw plenty of signatures from other MPs already there when he signed. So i think we can put the lie to bed that the letter is forged.Disgusting really.

Hurt by Modi govt's court cases, Gujarat Lokayukta refuses to take charge

Justice RA Mehta, who was appointed as Gujarat Lokayukta bypassing the Narendra Modi government, has declined to take up the position on the grounds that the state government has always questioned his credibility and integrity. Justice Mehta has written a letter to the state governor and the government stating that he cannot take up the position considering the mindset and attitude displayed by the state government is counter-significant. "Persistently and tenaciously approaching the Supreme Court with special leave petition, review petition, and curative petition at huge public expense. It may be compared to the budget for the Lokayukta office or cvcn the high court (which deals with lacs of cases every year). It would be an eye-opener," Justice Mehta stated in the letter. " Rs. 45 crores of public money is said to have been spent by the Gujarat government in this litigation. This is a humongously disproportionate figure by any standard," he stated, suggesting that the Modi administration fought tooth and nail to stall his appointment at ever level from the high court to the Supreme Court and then review petition and curative petition. Known for his pro-poor approach and independent mind, Justice Mehta was not acceptable to the chief minister, who allegedly wanted a person having no "anti-government bias." Chief minister had recommended Justice JB Vora for the post but the chief justice of Gujarat high court had recommended Justice Mehta's name for the post. The chief justice had also rejected the contention of the chief minister that Justice Mehta had "anti-government bias." Gujarat does not have Lokayukta since 2003 as the chief minister had vehemently opposed any move to have Lokayukta. However, in 2011, Gujarat governor Dr Kamla, based on the recommendation of the chief justice of the high court, appointed Justice Mehta as Lokayukta bypassing the state administration. Subsequently, the Gujarat government fought a bitter legal battle in the high court and the apex court. "Even after the three judgements of the Supreme Court, the reluctance of the state government to notify the Lokayukta appointment in the official Gujarat Government Gazette is surprising but not unexpected," Justice Mehta stated. In July, the Supreme Court had dismissed the curative petition of the Gujarat government, stating that the state government has yet not issued the notification to make the appointment public as required.

How Modi won the BJP primaries in American fashion
The BJP is unique among Indian parties for one simple reason and that reason is not Hindutva: it is the only party outside the shadowy Communists parties which is not run by one person or one family. Other parties don’t have to declare their PM or even CM nominees because that’s preordained. Everyone knows it’s the boss. (Check if BSP or Shiv Sena or AIADMK or Trinamool workers have any doubts about who their CM nominee would be). The BJP’s internal heartburn in recent months over Modi’s candidature is directly related to the fact that it is different. The party leadership is not an inherited heirloom or private property.
The key point and completely agreed.

Feku spent 45 crores of public funds in petitions to stall the appointment of a Lokayukta :omg: I don't see anyone getting their panties in a twist now.
That's the "Gujarat Model". :hysterical:

Also check Post #2558 - I hope the typical "paid news" will at least stop because the supporters use the very same website to report favorable news as well.

Here is how it goes. When you talk about riots and law and order under Modi, they will talk about how some riot or law and order breach happened under others. When you talk about corruption, they will point to numerous corruption scandals under others. When you talk about misuse of state machinery, they will talk about misuse under others. When you talk about wasteful expenditure of tax payer money, they will talk about wasteful expenditure by others. So here is the burning question if Modi is going to do exactly what others have done, then why do they support him so vehemently? And here I was being deluded into thinking "BJP is the party with a difference".

Absolutely - I can see no reason why one party is better than others. I have another question - if BJP is so better than the Congress why did they collude with the government to approve the RTI amendment to bring immunity for their parties? I would like to see how many BJP MPs and Congress MPs voted against the amendment. Since the Gadkari case it has been proven without doubt that all parties are birds of the same feather. It is naive to think otherwise. I am referring to this thread - http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showthread.php?t=301312

did not mean Modi is the lesser of the 2 evils.. It means' date=' vote for the most appropriate candidate out of all contestants in your area[/quote'] That should be the ideal way to vote. At the very least it will improve the quality of legislators.

The problem is the parties have started to pitch in some unknown persons in the election. Infact, the bigger parties have been doing this in last election. There are other lesser parties. The issue is these candidates would have done good in a smaller scale and he might be virtually unknown in majority of areas. That's where people are forced to vote for a particular party. Majorty are going for the party based vote due to that fact that, if the same party is at power in centre, they think that they can expect good things, as the the party's candidate has won in their electoral district .
