Mariyam Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 :giggle: If Modi visits Ayodhya, he is going back to Hindutva but if the so called secular leaders visit Haj, it's well secular. Dumbo logic there Also interesting yet no surprise, that in the original article, how they cleverly removed that the purpose was for "Amrit Mahotsava". Which 'secular' leader has gone to perform the Haj? Non Muslims are not permitted from entering Mecca. In Madinah, non Muslims can't enter the area near the Masjid Nabawi, but can enter the other areas.

And yet there are tons of leaders who visit their own different religious spots, can they be termed likewise? A lot of double standards here.

beetle Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Narendra Modi declines invitation to visit Ayodhya AHMEDABAD: In an apparent move to avoid stoking a fresh controversy as BJP comes to terms with a bitter separation from JD(U), Gujarat chief minister NarendraModi has declined an invitation to visit Ayodhya, his office said on Tuesday. The chief minister's office, in a press statement, clarified that Modi "politely declined" invitation to attend the 'Amrit Mahotsava' being celebrated on the 75th birthday of president of Ram Janma Bhumi Nyas Trust Mahant Nritya Gopal Das. "On June 13 Nritya Gopal Das had made a phone call to chief minister and invited him to attend his Amrit Mahotsav being organised during June 19 to 22, 2013. But, he had politely informed him that because of his pre-decided engagements it would be difficult for him to remain present," the statement said. Modi, while expressing his inability to attend the function, thanked the Mahant for the invitation and wish for the success of the function, it said. Vishwa Hindu Parishad's Uttar Pradesh spokesman Sharad Sharma had on Monday said that Modi was expected to visit Ayodhya on Wednesday or Friday and frontline leaders of the Hindutva brigade like Ashok Singhal, Praveen Togadia, Gorakhpur MP Yogi Aditya Nath and Yoga Guru Ramdev would also reach the temple town to welcome him. The move was seen as politically significant as BJP, mindful of the concerns of its allies, had avoided raking up the contentious Ram temple issue over the last several years. With JD(U) exiting from NDA, the visit by Modi, BJP's election campaign committee chief, was viewed as an attempt by the Gujarat leader to make it clear that he would not fight shy of blending his development agenda with pro-Hindutva politics in the assembly elections to states due later this year and next year's Lok Sabha polls. With JD(U) jumping off the NDA bandwagon, the alliance is left only with the Shiv Sena, a hardline Hindutva outfit with its influence limited to Maharashtra, and Punjab-centric Shiromani Akali Dal. Sharma had said Modi will also visit the Ram temple. "Modi's message to his party men and electorate from the land of Ayodhya will be important in the coming elections," the VHP leader had said. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Narendra-Modi-declines-invitation-to-visit-Ayodhya/articleshow/20647566.cms?intenttarget=no

(from the link that was posted in the first post of this page) It is a political message that he is trying to send out. And the message has communal overtones. Not really. You are missing the whole point, the argument presented here and a lot of Modi detractors is on visiting Ayodhya for Modi which is referred as if he is working on that Hindutva and thus communal. Yet,this visiting of religious sites logic for many other leaders doesn't get questioned. That's what I termed as double standards and thus flawed logic. As stated earlier, these were cleverly done articles which removed the purpose and only mentioned the site location. And being associated with VHP or various Muslims organizations, doesn't necessary make one communal. You are reading too much and making a big deal out of nothing. That phenomenon actually pretty common among Modi haters. And Modi himself is not going there now.
The Outsider Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 ^ If you think Ayodhya is merely a religious site and has no political significance then you are a bigger idiot than I gave you credit for till date.
someone Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 ^ If you think Ayodhya is merely a religious site and has no political significance then you are a bigger idiot than I gave you credit for till date. Lol, if you want to use Ayodhya as a political significance every-time, then you are certainly crazy and much more than I initially thought.

There was anniversary of a saint in Ayodhya.

Dude don't you have to warn the people about the Congress-Muslim kanspiracy to take over India. Go sell your bullshyte to dimwits on social media because they would not only buy it, but would also anoint you as the resident intellectual :giggle: As usual your post is a strawman, kanspiracy theory and trademark whining rolled into one. Modi visiting Ayodhya is not the same as any leader visiting a muslim religious place. That would be the equivalent of Modi visiting any temple, which no one has any problem with and has no significance. The sole purpose of visiting the disputed site is to flame communal passions to gain an electoral advantage.
ganeshran Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Correction. There was anniversary of a saint in Ayodhya. Do you actually believe that the timing of the visit to the disputed site had no religious/political significance except to attend the anniversary of some saint?
bulbul Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Do you actually believe that the timing of the visit to the disputed site had no religious/political significance except to attend the anniversary of some saint? Why not? Do you believe if i said MMS is most corrupt PM in history of India?

FischerTal Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Stop spreading rumours. you know when people resort to ad hominems, you have won the argument. cheers :icflove: :two_thumbs_up:
ravishingravi Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Do you actually believe that the timing of the visit to the disputed site had no religious/political significance except to attend the anniversary of some saint? No question of believing, it is an actual occasion.
ravishingravi Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 So, he has declined the invitation. Can we consider him secular ? Funny how the discourse in the country has been reduced to ad hominem arguments than ground realities and issues.
FischerTal Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 So, he has declined the invitation. Can we consider him secular ? Funny how the discourse in the country has been reduced to ad hominem arguments than ground realities and issues. now they will see he's trying to shed his communal image. Going to Ayodhya=communal Not going to Ayodhya=secular
someone Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 The sole purpose of visiting the disputed site is to flame communal passions to gain an electoral advantage. Oh you are back again. "I am right because it is me, you are wrong because it is you despite the evidence suggesting to contrary". There are politicians who visit Ayodhya without a sound of noise and controversy. But just because he is Modi, let's make it controversy. And Modi himself is not going there yet, you still loving it. And if just going to Ayodhya means communal, you sir are a big communal there. And I know you will not get that you do not get it.
