I actually wouldn't vote for Bradman, but I quite like Wally Hammond, but i have to confess I have no idea where he batted. Otherwise, VIV RICHARDS. EDIT - Hammond averaged 74.78 from 37 matches at #3.

^ Yes I needed to check that as well as I thought Hammond was more of a 4 or 5 bat. He was probably a better fielder (than Don) and bowled useful medium pace if that needs to come into the equation. Yet had a against O Reillys legspin

Lara averages 51 when batted at number 4 less than even Jayawardene and Miandad. He averaged 62 while batting at number 3. His impact at number 3 is much more than number 4.

He played just 66 innings at 3 compared to 148 at 4. Therefore, the quantum of innings cannot be ignored. Because if that's the case, Tendulkar should bat at 5 since he averages 60 there.

no kallis? why anyway i voted for dravid, this guy saved india zillions of timne in most difficult conditions..most dependent #3 for me...averages 53 in 219 innings, great consistency :omg: donno much about bradman, lara was more like 150,0,10, player, not too consistent..whingakara just bullies his way around in colombo,galle etc, ponting was the only close option for me

Wonder if most of the people who voted for the Don knows who he is rather than just checking out his 99.94 against the same team with a toothless attack.

But no batsman who played for 20 years averaged 99.94 against any attack ( not even in FC there is a precedent for this), toothless or otherwise. Take Bradman out, you struggle to get 70+ even in FC cricket. What Bradman did was something like sprinting 100m in 7 or 8 seconds.

sanga has toured pak nd india twice nd even bangladesh, which has increased his average tremendously...now even sanga is getting old, at his prime, he did score in difficult venues, but now no way he can score 3 tons in england like dravid, or in aus...just check the no. of tests, 40 odd of sanga in comparison to dravid nd punter`s 70 odd. now that he is getting old nd noway in his prime, that average is bound to go down in next 4-5 years
