ravishingravi Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 New Delhi: Fast bowler Lasith Malinga, who was recently named the brand ambassador of the ICC World T20, may not play for his country if the Sri Lankan government decides to ban him. The Lankan government is in the process of moving a motion to ban all national athletes who refuse to represent the country. And Malinga is on their radar because he quit Test cricket last year in favour of the IPL. He also refused to renew his contract with the Sri Lanka Cricket board due to low payments. http://sports.ndtv.com/cricket/news/item/191723-sri-lanka-to-ban-lasith-malinga?&pfrom=home-cricket
f.b.m Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Well isnt every retirement (not forced) a betrayal of your great and beloved nation?

ganeshran Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Take out Malinga and SL bowling attack is a all-you-can-eat buffett. The SL board is flexing its muscles, nothing else. I dont understand the argument that Malinga quit test cricket because of IPL - in the 3 years preceding his retirement, he hardly played 3-4 test matches and even when he did play, he used to miss lots of LoI games to recuperate. His knee condition makes him unsuitable for the longer version and he is doing the right thing to prolong his career by playing only LoIs.
thongale Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 The agitation about refusal to sign the contract, not retiring from test cricket.
msb1991 Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 The agitation about refusal to sign the contract' date=' not retiring from test cricket.[/quote'] Indeed. No one can argue with his decision to retire from Test cricket. One Test match and 6 months injured is not worth more than several ODIs and T20s in that period of time - whatever dogmatic purists would otherwise think!
Square Drive Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 ^ Square Drive is crying inside. There is no reason to cry. We always have Kula to lead the attack. :dontknow: we can give Mithun' date='Aravind,Vinay,[/quote'] Vinay is a good bowler. But the only problem is "Vinay" in Sinhala language means "misfortune" or "a disaster". :cantstop:

Sachin=GOD Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 If the Pakistan Govt introduced something like this then Afriidi would be banned and unbanned in every 6 months :phehehe: But seriously I don't think its justified for the Govt to ban players over their decision to chose one form over another.
