What's the point of playing Rohit as an opener?Cant see him as a regular opener in the future

So that team management can tell him to go for his shots liek he does in T20s and not worry too much about anything else. Since he would be replacing Sehwag in the team he will have license to go for his shots and maybe that's what will help him get out of the slump.

A series loss is a series loss be it 3-2 or 4-1. The very fact we are experimenting and trying out our fringe players before the series is over is slap enough in the face of the trolls. I would rather we lose and trolls are all over the internet proclaiming how great Loins are than us winning 4-1 but not giving the fringe players a chance. If we can unearth another quality player/replacement in Tiwary/Rahane' date= I would gladly take a 3-2 series win over a 4-1 win.

5th ODI vs SL: worth experimenting Now that the Lankans have lost the series, surely Dhoni should make some changes for the last game? Rahane should get a game for sure, and Rohit Sharma should be given a chance at opening the batting. Also think Rahul Sharma needs a game, he only played once.

Records show that no team plays Lasith Malinga better than India do. In 27 ODIs spread over eight years against India, Malinga averages nearly 43 for his 31 wickets, at an economy-rate of almost six an over. The trend has continued in this series, in which Malinga's five wickets in four games have cost 44 runs each and he has conceded 6.19 runs an over. Even in the third game, when he removed MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma off successive deliveries, Malinga went for 60 in his ten overs. That kept another trend intact - Malinga has never taken more than two wickets in any game against India. One of the world's best death bowlers is taken for runs at the death by India's batsmen. A renowned game-changer has struggled to change games against India. Why does it happen? Is it because of over-exposure, through the endless bilateral series India and Sri Lanka play, and the IPL? Is it because India's batsmen are strong on the leg side and are able to handle Malinga's inswinging, full deliveries better? Virender Sehwag, earlier the series, said that it was due to India's batsmen getting used to Malinga, both through international matches and the IPL.
