Old guy Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Where are all those haters in the Vinay replaces Irfan thread? :yousuck: +1
Cricket Tragic Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Very few Indians have taken 5+ wickets twice. No code has to be inserted here. Five wicket haul from an Indian pacer after more than 5 years. :omg: Ganguly, Srikkanth, Tendulkar.....
Ultimate_Game Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Ganguly' date=' Srikkanth, Tendulkar..... [/quote'] Extremely surprising to see Kapil not taking too many 5-fers. He just has one 5 wkt haul and for a bowler of his quality should have had a few more.
jj_28 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 He looks fit and he's been a genuine all rounder if he keeps going like this he will make a huge difference in our ODI, T20 team in the upcoming series
vvvslaxman Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Anyway you look at it he is more a match winner than any of the bowlers who could replace him.
BeautifulGame Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 And surprisingly he has been our best bowler in death overs too. But i think its imperative he is played as an All rounder and bats at 7 so that he gets much needed experience in batting as well as it puts less pressure on his bowling. Also it is important for future prospects in Aus 2015 wc
MCcricket Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Irfan has the talent and tools to succeed but he needs to be aggressive in his bowling, should bowl between 133 to 142 k's and go for wickets, right now he is bowling defensively or maybe that is the role he is given, bowling at 126 to 133 k not good enough. I believe if he plays with freedom and capt has faith in him you will see a different player, right now not being in the original squad, he is playing defensively and playing for percentages, Cheeka and Dhoni not being on his side makes a huge difference.

Sidhoni Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Brilliant performance in the series!! :hatsoff: No Jadeja/Vinay/YP from now on, I Pathan all the way!!
MCcricket Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 If that was the case he wouldnt have played a single ODI in this series. He was not in the original squad despite decent performances this year, Dhoni, Cheeka have been the worst combination for Irfan as a cricketer, he was played in the ODI'S because of the combination that was required and Umesh, Dinda, make a weak backup, with only him and half fit Zak as experienced bowlers. How many times even in this series have u heard Dhoni say we do not even have a half decent all rounders and what would Irfan as a all rounder feel about that, same as Sehwag, Gambhir felt when Dhoni talked about how useless they were as fielders. Indian team needs a new captain and set of selectors as Cheeka is a RE!@#@, team selections have been like a lottery ticket and strong bias for certain players.
Pagalpanti Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Just hope they don't experiment to much with him again by sending him at no.3 or 4. His role should be defined. No. 7 bat. In bowling apart from first few overs, he should be used in death overs mostly. Much better than other options atm.

Dhoni not rating him as great an all rounder as u think doesnt equate him to not backing him as a player.Fact is if Dhoni didnt back Irfan as a bowler as u say then Irfan would never have played a single ODI in this series.
Lord Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 I always backed him.he should be a regular.people saying his bowling is still crap, well that applies to our every bowler.Irfan should defintely play in WT20 now. though he should play at 7 imo.King Rohit has to go

More by lack of choice if you ask me,he never should have been dropped in the first place but dhoni love for jadeja will be a probllem.
vvvslaxman Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Sad part is couple of bad matches our resident 'pace experts' will come out from the closet and go after him. unless there is viable option they have to stop questioning his selection. considering the fact he is going to play majority of his matches in subcontinental conditions we have to accept there are times he will go for runs.
JourneyMan Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Just hope he keeps working hard on his bowling, because that's where India really need him. The fact that he's batting decently at 7 is a bonus, but if India have a decent death over bowler they won't even need to go down to number 7 in the batting line-up.
maniac Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I think it's time...we stop judging Irfan on his pace, which was never his strength to begin with....He probably is a shade better than PK in swinging conditions and a shade better than VK,when it comes to line and length and 2 shades better than Jaddu and his brother with the bat....what else can we ask for?
vvvslaxman Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Bring back Balaji , irfan pathan's former successful partner. They complemented each other very well. Zak has reached a stage where he should just focus on tests. these pointless ODIs are going to shorten his test career.
