suraj
Hindsight is 20-20. He didn't bowl badly, just Hafeez took him on. What nonsense- if that is not bad bowling what exactly is bad bowling then? He bowled utter tripe Link to comment
rkt.india
drop Gambhir, open with Kohli or Rohit. play at least 4 specialist bowlers. Ashwin is a better batsman than Jadeja any day. On this track, they could have played 4 seamers, especially against Pak. This pitch had so much for pacers. Link to comment
rkt.india
Kohli, yuvraj, jadeja all are lolypop on such a track. it was not a slow pitch. Dinda as usual could not trouble any batsman. he just does not have it, neither have pace and bounce nor he cab swing or seam much. At his, if he does not move the ball, he is useless. rkt.india
Ahmedabad pitch will be different, slow, will help spinner. Our pacers, BK, Ishant may struggle there as ball wont seam or swing like this but still pacers can do damage against pak on any pitch. Link to comment
NareshK
You need 6 bowlers to do well in T20s. 4 specialists + 2 all rounders. Its useless to play with 7 specialist batsmen because they only have to bat 20 overs. The bowling all rounders at the end can also whack a few out of the park which is the requirement in T20. Also in T20, one or two bowlers will have an off day invariably. So if you go with 3 specialists and 2 part timers, you have to rely on those bowlers to get through their whole spell which could be expensive. We also lack a couple of decent death over specialists. That's why India always struggles to defend totals. 4 bowlers and 2 all rounders and 5 batsmen is the right comb for a T20 team. Irfan Pathan would have been a good addition to this team if he had not been injured. Rahul Sharma could be a decent T20 option. Ashwin, Yuvraj should always be in the team. Jadeja is not a T20 bowler because he bowls at the same pace and at the same length most of the time and he is predictable. Link to comment
Clarke
This wasn't an on-field captaincy issue, the fault was with the batting & squad selection. The Pakistanis decided to target the part timers and would have done so if it was Raina/Yuvi/Jadeja/Kohli or whoever. The pitch assisted seamers, hence Dhoni had Kohli roll his arm. I was hoping Dhoni would roll his arm for the last over, he's 120+ and stood a hint of a chance unlike Jadeja. Link to comment
Old guy
we lost match by selecting jaddu ahead of ashwin and also that collapse otherwise bowling effort was great and yuvraj on drier track will actually be handful like always so for next game dont change anything just get ashwin in place of jaddu and i will play rohit at number 4 he plays ajmal well imo Link to comment
saneindian
No problems with him bowling but the field given to him was ridiculous. He bowls mostly in dippers and yet Dhoni had just one fielder inside the ring at square leg and 3 on the boundary, needed more protection within the ring with an additional fielder at mid wicket. Iconoclast
Virat, Yuvrak and Jadoo should all not have bowled. He should have played two specialist bowlers more. Link to comment
IKnowU
"Even Fernando Torres has to sit out for Chelsea" R Ashwin is philosophical about being left out of the first Twenty20 against Pakistan December 26, 2012 http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/quote/598621.html I thought this deserved its own thread. :cantstop::cantstop: :hysterical::hysterical: Where do you even start with this quote, wrong on so many levels. rkt.india
Dhoni's great thinking because Pak mostly had right handers so they played too left arm part timers as Ashwin said why he was not playing. Link to comment
saneindian
Dhoni wanted a bowler who could take the ball away from the batsman, hence Jadeja lol...Does he consider Chawla to an off spinner cos he bowls so many googlies? Link to comment

But Jadeja will save more runs on the field and is theoretically a better batsman than Chawla. Link to comment

rkt.india
Jadeja has mostly been crap in T20. Even England had thrashed him. Link to comment
