Dravid_TheWall Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 NO. Sport is meant to be played between friendly nations. I have no interest in watching my country entertain a nation that has been responsible for the deaths of many of our citizens through coward acts. The souls of those innocent Mumbai victims are on my mind. Life is precious and must be respected. While the organisers roam freely in Pak and are not extradited to India we should not be playing sport with them. We should assassinate these terrorists instead either with US drone help or covert operations.
King Tendulkar Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 ^ 100% agree. But hey some just want us to open our arms and embrace the killers of our countrymen. Disgrace!
Vijay.Sharma Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 No way we must have agreed to a bi-lateral series with them Pakis.
King Tendulkar Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 But seem people want to ignore that and close threads just because we said things against this tour. Of course they will. Laloo who closed the thread likes pakistan and is very happy the tour is happening as he has boasted in that thread. Also does not give a dammn about dead indians. So of course the thread is closed as it does not suit his bend over backwards and lets get shafted by paks!!!
Dravid_TheWall Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 ^ 100% agree. But hey some just want us to open our arms and embrace the killers of our countrymen. Disgrace! Yep. Bro what's happening, has the government confirmed it yet? Is it definitely going ahead?
Vijay.Sharma Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Yep. Bro what's happening' date=' has the government confirmed it yet? Is it definitely going ahead?[/quote']The Govt will appease the minority voter...I'd be surprised if they don't Edit - If the minority voters do dharnas saying we don't want this Paki tour then Givt will cancel it. If they don't do anything then Govt will go ahead with the tour Iam telling u best solution is to get shiv sena to act on behalf of India and dig up the pitches at Kol, Che, and Del - problem solved. The Govt will not have the balls to take a stance on this.
King Tendulkar Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 Yep. Bro what's happening' date=' has the government confirmed it yet? Is it definitely going ahead?[/quote'] The BBCI are not going to announce this unless govt has already agreed. Half of the BCCI are the govt anyway. I hope they line and fill their grubby pockets with lots of money due to this series. They will make money, how wonderful. And as for the victims of pakis state terror, well who gives a dammn right???

And as for the victims of pakis state terror, well who gives a dammn right??? This is bs :banghead: I am going to follow this story properly now. This is shameful if the government doesn't step in. BJP wouldn't have allowed this. Does the Congress Party have no dignity? Pak terrorists roam freely and we go to the US with our begging bowl asking for them to be extradited. If they can't even bring the perpetrators to justice then at least respect all the lives of the innocent people who died not so long ago. Don't they value the lives of their citizens? Even if we are pathetic and not seeking justice for Mumbai attacks at least stop playing sport with them. I seriously hope someone digs up the pitches and screws the matches up, groups must protest.

I know they had all that North and South Bias and Mumbai for mumbaikars only but there Pak stance is correct. Lets hope they dig it up again.

Needforspeed Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 http://www.gqindia.com/content/december-mistake A December mistake Pranav Gandhi [B]In 1980, the United States boycotted the Moscow Olympics because of the USSR incursion in Afghanistan. The US was joined by a number of other countries, including Japan, West Germany, China, the Philippines, Argentina and Canada. The boycott was because of what was happening in Afghanistan not New York or Los Angeles, but Afghanistan. This was the Olympics, not some run-of-the-mill series against one nation. The greatest sporting event for most athletes a once-in-four-year opportunity and for most, a once-in-a-lifetime chance. The US didn't care: principles came first. What the US and other nations did by this move was to signal to the world in general and to the USSR in particular that they would not participate in fun and games with a country until issues that impacted the lives of millions were resolved to their satisfaction. On 26th November, 2008, a number of Pakistan-sponsored terrorists attacked the city of Mumbai. Since then, there has been scant cooperation from our neighbours to the north to hunt down the men responsible and deliver some semblance of justice to the citizens of India. Despite diplomatic efforts, talks and umpteenth requests for information and assistance, Pakistan has been unmoved. Now, I love watching an India-Pakistan encounter. You know the feeling there is nothing quite like it. But at some point, our government has to realize that Pakistan should not get the benefit of playing a game with India unless they want to play fair in everything else as well. And that's just what cricket is: it's a game, nothing more. Don't buy in to the hype about cricket being a religion. It is not. Sports are entertainment. Sure, there is the competitive spirit, the cheering and nervousness of the fans, the national pride and all that jazz. But at the end of the day, we watch sports to be entertained. Here we have a nation that has, over the years, consistently funded terrorism against another. On the one hand, they condemn the acts of terror, but when you ask them to help you hunt down the terrorists, they say 26/11 is not on the table for discussion. Yet, we want to get entertained by their players? Don't get me wrong. I love Pakistani cricketers. Some of my favorite players Afridi, Akram and Imran Khan are from Pakistan. It's not about the cricketers. This is so much bigger than that. You think South African cricketers and rugby players didn't suffer because of apartheid? They did and weren't allowed to participate in international sport for years. I don't believe that every South African was a racist. That's just the way the world works. If you believe that the series will ease relations between the two nations, then you had better put down whatever you're smoking because it probably isn't tobacco. The series won't do a damn thing. India hosted Pakistan for a three-test series in early 1999. The tour was hailed as a great one because it was the first series between the nations in more than 10 years a sign that peaceful relations between the two countries were possible. This was followed by a tri-nation one-day series with Sri Lanka. The final match of the tour saw Pakistan beat India in the final of the tri-nation tournament on April 4, 1999 in Bangalore. On May 3, 1999, there was a Pakistani intrusion into Kargil, which began the Kargil war. The acceptance of the tour shows weakness on our part and will not accomplish anything constructive. It just doesn't make sense.
Clarke Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 http://www.gqindia.com/content/december-mistake [ :asleep: How often, based on wars/invasions have the Olympics & other events been boycotted by countries ? Picking the 1980 Olympics is an ideal example of cherry picking. How about looking at the present day, the Haqqani group sponsored by uknowwho targets American & British soldiers in Afghanistan on a regular basis. This leads to the (in)famous drone strikes. Does it also lead to boycott of uknowwho ? The way it works is pretty straightforward; take out the targets that spread !error on ur land, openly like USA or covertly like Israel. Boycotting a certain sports team doesn't do jack $h1t.
Ultimate_Game Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 @NeedForSpeed, Great article by Pranav Gandhi. One thing is clear - majority of Indians share our sentiment regarding resumption of bilateral ties. We had articles/statements from Anand Vasu, Pranav, Gavaskar etc. have come out against the decision to resume the ties, and I haven't seen even one article welcoming the resumption in bilateral cricketing ties.
putrevus Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 how come these so called jingoists like Pranav Gandhi were silent when Pakistan played India in world cup 2011, what about commonwealth games held in India, pakistan was in it.Why was it invited on both those occasions. All of sudden when cricket team comes ,these guys come out their shell and give us this 1980 Olympics story forgetting what happened next Olympics in 1984.

Vilander Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 In all i could count 8 Pakistan cricket related threads in the front page the most of any country other than India i suppose. Is this really ICF or is it IPCF ? why so much attention to one country there are 8 others.

Minority or majority, he (she) stands to gain nothing from this series. You think votes are so easy to get by. Anyways, the basic premise in your post is based on an assumption that is flawed. The Congress party is guilty of pampering the Muslim community, to an extent, but this move has nothing to do with 'appeasement'. Its probably an underhand deal of a few Babu's in the GoI with the BCCI on profit sharing from the proceeds. Iam telling u best solution is to get shiv sena to act on behalf of India and dig up the pitches at Kol' date=' Che, and Del - problem solved.
