ShebbySB Posted August 3, 2012 Author Posted August 3, 2012 Will play for India and avg 50 . Test Class . Agree with u.He's pretty similar to Virat as far as technique goes.
PaceAttack Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I thought sometimes players are selected based on talent & promise. Both of them are blessed with that.If Aaron can play test & Umesh can play ODIs then it proves that talent has nothing to do with irrelevant domestic records. Fast bowlers should be selected when they are young. Not batsmen. However, I would agree with you that these guys have immense potential and they should be given chances to play, atleast in ODIs.
Number Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 There are a few already waiting Rahane, Tiwary etc. So no point in just loading the bench.
Vilander Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Mandeep isn't an International material. He would just fail like Vijay or Dhawan. mgane ennada sonna ?
Sooda Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I wish we have bit more of structure akin to England... Success in Ranji= A team spot, Success at A team level= Test spot...here we are calling for Unmukt who has barely played any cricket...
Ultimate_Game Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Great! So we already have likes of Rohit, Rahane and Tiwary trying to get chances to get in the team. We have Yuvi trying to come back and SRT might be back from vacation anyday and the OP is asking for more folks to be given a chance  Maybe OP can also enlighten us on what to do with the guys sitting on the bench already, or what to tell the likes of Tiwary and Rahane when Unmukt Chand and Mandeep Singh get are playing while Tiwary & Rahane look on from sidelines.
1983-2011 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 the stats of both players mentioned are poor in one day games so how can they be selected for india, the national team is not an academy to nurture players for future, for that they have domestic and A tours
skindia Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Robin uthappa is better opener in odi compared to rahane and all these new comers...He hasnt got enough chance as opener in odi...shuffled from here and there that too when he was under age of 23..he always performed in odi format in domestics as opener..

Rahane had much less chances than Uthappa and he has way done way better than him.
skindia Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 check uthappa's avg as opener....13 matches avg of 33 with strike rate of 97...its better compared to rahane...he just failed in world cup 2007 where everyone failed
vayuu1 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 What about baba aparajith ,we need a good allrounder in our squad along with irfu, heard he is a good bat and a decent tweaker to so why not give him a chance , instead of besharma and jaddu.
jj_28 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 India A should be the next step for all these players not the first team they have still got a lot to learn players like Dhawan, Rohit, Mukund, Awanna either need to be dropped or they need to justify their selection through a very strong domestic campaign And when picked these players have to perform for a chance with Indian team It has to be a three step program in my view - Domestic - India A - Indian Team consistent performances being the key to be rewarded to the next level and Selectors have to make sure they don't pick players based on their IPL performance not to discourage young players from playing in that competition but to make sure that these players know that success in domestic cricket is the only way into Team India BCCI also needs to revamp the domestic cricket to make sure both the batsmen and the bowler have equal opportunities

Manoj will be in the first XI from the next series.Rohit will be dropped so if Yuvi comes then that vacant spot will be filled.Rahane is an opener so he'll always be in the squad but unfortunately have to warm the benches.I don't think Sachin will play lot more ODIs(maybe in the Eng series). After this series Dhoni will probably go with 7 batsmen+4 bowlers,it leaves us with this squad for ODIs:- First XI:-Sehwag,Gambhir,Kohli,Yuvraj,Manoj,Raina,Dhoni,Irfan,Ashwin,Zaheer,Dinda (probably Aaron will replace dinda when he's fit). Reserves:- Rahane,1 middle order batsman,Rahul Sharma,Vinay,Umesh. So 1 of Unmukt or Mandeep can easily be in that middle order reserve spot. Personally I'd prefer Mandeep based on his technique & seniority.

If Unmukt Chand bats out of this world in the u-19 WC he may get on the fringes of the Indian team but Mandeep has to do a lot more to be considered for selection. And performance should be the only criteria for selection, not "seniority". P.S. - Don't ever mention Dinda in the First XI. It looks like a cruel and sick joke
India-KXIP fan Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Mandeep isn't an International material. He would just fail like Vijay or Dhawan. You know this how? 20 years old, never been tried. Please go.
jusarrived Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 You know this how? 20 years old' date=' never been tried. Please go.[/quote'] Mandeep @ 20 is already a better players than Dhawan and Vijay put together . His technique is better than any other Indian youngster , better than Rohit , Rahane , Thiwary , Raina , Pujara etc . I would only pick Virat ahead of him for the test team , though spending a season or 2 in Domestic cant relly do any harm to him .
Old guy Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 mandeep had good enough technique for odis thing is no one has perfect technique not even kohli or pujara just play well within ur limitations and u will do fine
