maniac Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Following Indian cricket for atleast 22 years and I have always seen that right from the days of Kapil to now,our fast bowlers have been pretty economical with the new ball but then end up with their figures being neutralised at the death. I remember Kapil,Srinath having some unplayable to tight overs in their first spells to being neutralised in the end and having figures in the range of 10 2 45 2 after having a first spell in the range of 5 2 12 1....This is just a random figure but I guess you guys get the drift.... Even today this problem haunts us,guys like Irfan,Zak and even Vinny bowl some good spells at the start to throw it all away in the end The only seamer from India to ever have decent yorkers at the death was Sir Aggy :hail: but we know about his buffet ball every over rule....Too lazy to pull any stats,so who do you rate as the best seam bowler to bowl at the death for India.

Bowling, and especially death bowling has been our bane over the years I went with Prabhakar as he had a great slower ball, could swing it and had a decent yorker. If he had a bit more pace he would have been one of our ATGs. 2nd best IMO was Nehra.

Bowling' date=' and especially death bowling has been our bane over the years [/quote'] He actually did have good slower ball variations(probably one of the innovators especiall in the B and H series 91-92) and a decent yorker.....I was considering him but I went with Aggy as I did see him getting rid of tailenders with some very good yorkers on a few occasions

True....I think he was equally good in IPL-2 in South Africa as well....but he was just another flash in the pan :(

He kept batsmen honest even at the death. Even until the 92 WC he was the quintessential ODI bowler. He got wickets with the new ball and reined in the hitting at the death. Venky was also decent at the death
Crookbond Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 A throw up between Agarkar and Prabhakar for me in ODIs. I went with Prabhakar in the end due to more variation. If the same question were asked for Test matches, I think Kapil Dev and Anil Kumble would win hands down.

Arrey Bhai....I am just saying he had a couple of decent tourneys were he was the captain's go to man at the death and he did deliver....I have already mentioned he was a flash in the pan.... .If RP Singh benefitted from Swing and Seam conditions,so did every other paceman in those tournaments but the fact that he had a good record in both World T20 and IPL-2 says that he was in decent rythm where he was delivering

Even though he keeps on getting hit he continues bowling length. At the death he's poor and that's why he shouldn't be in the T20 team.
