rkt.india Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 ^ You left out Dravid :P Dravid debuted in 1996, U19 WC restarted from 1998. People started taking U19 seriously after 2000 when we won it.
Sidhoni Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Brightest prospects - Aparajith Chand Harmeet The 3 pacers
Ultimate_Game Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 none outta these guys Have you even seen Harmeet bowl in the tourney yet?
adi B Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Have you even seen Harmeet bowl in the tourney yet? no :(( college call but i saw a couple of deliveries vs windies..he should learn to bowl top spinner or doosra to be different from others.but afaik,he`s left hand bowler,so he will have to depend on flight,spin,drift,angles..but many left handers can bowl like that :nervous:

He's at a different level from otehr spinners in this tourney and is the most intl ready from our team. He has great control, varies his speed, has flight, can turn the ball (though not prodigiously) and has a good arm ball. If I have to pick one player from this team to play for the national side it would be Harmeet.
ShebbySB Posted August 24, 2012 Author Posted August 24, 2012 I have not seen a single left arm spinner who bowls like this in recent times. Harmeet's bowling is similar to Ojha but Harmeet bats better.
rkt.india Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Harmeet's bowling is similar to Ojha but Harmeet bats better. Harmeet gives more rip to the ball than Ojha because of his real powerful pivot, whiel OJha just drops the ball, does not give enough rip. Harmeet will turn the ball more on Indian tracks than most left arm spinners.

If I have to pick one player from this team to play for the national side it would be Harmeet. No bowler will turn the prodigiously on those tracks, not even Murli. He has still turned the ball more than anyone there. We must see Harmeet bowl on Indian tracks to decide how much he can turn the ball. The way he gives the ball a rip, he will surely turn the ball more than likes of Ojha on Indian pitches.

cowboysfan Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Harmeet will play for india in test cricket, book it.
gaurav92 Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Harmeet ios the only one who deserves it, others will have to work hard. May be Baba Aparijith after a few good seasons in FC Cricket. But the Bambaiya spinner Harmeet Paaji is outstanding. Tosses it up in the air and buys his wickets :hatsoff:
rkt.india Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Needs to play atleast one FC season before he comes into the test side. Yeah. He is still only 17 or 18. He will learn a lot from FC cricket. No need to hurry him in national team.
bajrang Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 I think Chopra has done well. He may be slow but he is seeing the new ball in these conditions. Few quick wickers up front and match is over for you. He has 3 50s in the tourny already and he plays some delightful off side shots. He is not yet finished article but he has shown that he has the zeal to survive in the these conditions. and since when did we start selecting people on the basis of how they perform on seaming condition. chand, baba and zol will out perform him in the subcontinent and get selected if they will, before chopra. also other three guys bring something extra to the table, with chand you get explosive opener maybe future captain. with baba you get spinner option. with zol you get left handed middle order bat. chopra has his work cut out for him. dont see his future beyond domestic .
Crookbond Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 I think the only U19 player that will serve us well is Tendulkar. :agree:
