rkt.india Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 India Under-19 World Cup winning captain Unmukt Chand has been barred from taking his University Examinations because of low attendance in College. Unmukt, a student in the BA Programme of the prestigious St. Stephen's College in Delhi has not been allowed to take the second semester exams as he has fallen short of the minimum attendance required to sit for the University Examinations. A saddened Mahendra Singh Dhoni has extended his full support to the youngster. "Marks for sports takes backseat, attendance for now takes centrestage. This shows how much importance sports has in India. Sad to hear," Dhoni said on social networking site. Kirti Azad, an alumnus of the College and now a Member of Parliament has also backed the youngster. Earlier, Chand approached the Delhi High Court, which ordered the College to allow him to write his exams. But as he was a little late in approaching the Court, he was able to write only two exams out of four. The university mandates that a student should pass 50% of all exams in both semesters combined. The college has had a number of international level players on its rolls, but most have escaped such harsh penalty. ST.Stephen is known to be snobbish.Court gave them nice chittar.

This is a tough one to be honest. He has absolutely brought laurels to the country and needs to be felicitated for that. But he also got in St.Stephens for crying out loud. I am not sure what his educational pedigree is, and also not sure how St. Stephens is holding up these days with all those International schools opening every week, but not too far ago St. Stephens was the number 1 institute of its kind in the country....by far! Surely getting into such a premium college also has its own responsibilities. Bhai mere Daulatram mein jaane ka tha otherwise. :hmmm:

It wasn't a binge drinking competition in Russia because of which he missed classes and its not like he's asking for postponed exams or something. Quite supportive an institute, this one :mad: whata nerd he still wants to give exams? Actually i admire that he shall spend days on preparing for exam and is keen on education despite being a superstar of sorts already and a potential multi-millionaire sometime soon. Is that something to make fun of ?
surajmal Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Its not about education. Rather its the crave for degree ka thappa. He can get education on his own through self study at home (which I assume he is doing anyways - considering his busy cricket schedule).
