Executioner Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 What? we are not putting Yuvraj on the pedestal anymore?? I mean come on guys.. our government just gave him an award recently.. isn't that enough proof of how good he is? so how does receiving an award make him a fit? He didnt get an award for getting fit in time:cantstop:
zep1706 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 He is fit enough to sit on the couch and watch world T20 not play . He started huffing and puffing after just 1 run. Told you earlier. I knew it when I saw him against NZ. It's stupidity at its best.
yoda Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Indian cricket has never been about professionalism. Declaring players fit when they are physically nowhere close to being ready has been going on forever. I bet the BCCI itself issues directives to selectors and physios to pick players.
adi B Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 UV will be one of the factors, India getting kicked out of the tournament.. If you send him to bat between 15-20 overs, then the team is screwed. He shouldn't be in the team. He's not REQUIRED. He needs good rest... +1
msb1991 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 I think he will rise to the occasion and win us a crucial game.
vvvslaxman Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 I think he will rise to the occasion and win us a crucial game. We are purely counting on his big hitting abilities. He could very well do that. But look at the running between the wickets. God forbit if it India suffers a collapse and Yuvi is required to build an innings we are totally screwed. As long as his job is to just stand there and whack he might even get away with few useful scores. Otherwise things could go very wrong.
Crookbond Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Is Yuvraj Singh ready for international cricket? What was the hurry? Why did we have to push Yuvraj into big cricket with such haste when a season building up the strength and playing domestic matches might have given him a gentler and less fraught path into the international scene? It was an emotional decision, not a cricketing one that Srikkanth and his co-selectors took. Yuvraj has many years of cricket ahead of him; missing the World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka might have been a wrench, but in the long run might have added years to his spell at the top. http://www.wisdenindia.com/is-yuvraj-singh-ready-for-international-cricket
bangladeshifan Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 u guys forgetting this fella won u the ODI WC wiv a bloody tumor in his lungs
cowboysfan Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Whats the end game here? are we using this world cup for Yuvraj to get into match fitness for ODIs?.He can barely run a tight 2 and immediately looks winded,i just hope hope he doesnt injure some other part of his body.
Texy Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Nowadays removing lung tumors is a quick process. You don't pry open the ribs like in the past. Patients can start running within a week after the incision and removal of the tumor. Yuvi is very healthy at the moment but the problem is fitness, international sports level fitness. He's probably doing it at his pace, which is good but it may not be up to the mark.
jusarrived Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Wud have got 200 if Raina had come in place of hiim

Tiger80 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 u guys forgetting this fella won u the ODI WC wiv a bloody tumor in his lungs Who's taking his past achievements? Illness ,old age are facts of life. This guy had done thid that guy has done that .With this kind of logic You end up playing ILL,old people because of their past achievements

asterix Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 u guys forgetting this fella won u the ODI WC wiv a bloody tumor in his lungs Different formats..In T20 you don't get time to build an innings and you do have to score maximum runs (if you are unable to hit boundaries) by running hard. Also UV coming in to bat in crunch overs is a high possibility. In all probability Dhoni could come ahead of him in the order but then you are just playing him as a left arm bowling option.
King Tendulkar Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 He can barely run a single, let alone hard 2s and 3s. Even if yuvi explodes and hits boundaries and does not have to run, what about the sucker at the end who may want / need to hit 2s and 3s with hard running. He has no chance with yuiv at other end. Pathetic selction and highlights once again how unproffessional we can be.

The current situation unnecessarily puts him under pressure and makes it hard for him to have confidence going.. He could be under tremendous pressure to 'prove' that he's 'back'... as it's evident (in this topic only) people don't find much difference (due to their ignorance) between T20 and ODI formats..
