Lost all the test series overseas , against big teams, in the last 3 years. I have seen, right from the mid '80s-- till the time Dhoni came -- one bad series and a dozen past players started abusing the captain. Calling for his head. Suddenly ALL of them have become restrained even after 3 years of abject failure ???? Believable ? amazing isn't it Before wrongly or rightly even one loss and skipper would have knives in his back from past players. But amazingly after 3 years and loss after loss ex players throwing rose petals at him and not knives.

In India he is adored and they think he is the nuts. Speak to anyone and they drool at his mention, cricitice and they genuinely don't get it. The first thing they say is he won us the world cup and that is a legend blah blah But you see they rely on media for their info. The media is right behind him for various reason and this helps in the brain washing and delusion

Many of his team mates have now realised, especially after the Lords win, that winning matches only allows Dhobi to brag around... Promptly lost next 2 matches to bring down Dhobi and hope they continue to do so...

The average Indian fan (including those intellectuals who go around stoning houses and burning effigies) only care about 2 things: 1) India - Pak series 2) World Cups / Champions Trophy Now India haven't played Pak much recently, and we have done pretty well in multi-nation ODI tournaments of late. And of course, we beat Australia 4-0 at home, so surely everything is fine with Indian cricket and Dhoni?

Sorry u have huge misunderstanding about the casual fan.Everybody wanted him sacked after 0-8. For casual fans every series may lead to captaincy change,heck every match .The same guys who cheer abuse him in filthiest of language.So It will not affect them one bit.So lets not blame them anyways when india plays even without dhoni u get full crowds.

But his batsmen let him down. Also given India's performance at Lord's, Shastri thinks questioning Dhoni and Fletcher's position now is ridiculous :haha:
