You never know which player will excel as a captain. Basically the team needs fresh/different strategies, planning now... You can't conitnue with the same/similar strategies for long... A new captain will allow/bring in different sets of players in the team which might work well for the team. This is like Congressis not allowing anybody becoming the President other than their party members for the fear that the new President from any other party might become popular..

Not bad. ODI team is more or less set as far as batting is concerned. Yuvi coming back will do good to the team so no harm making Kohli captain there. MSD should be relieved from some pressure. usko Indian Cricket ka gadha bana rakha hai by putting each and every kind of responsibility on him, no wonder he looks more and more spent and mentally and physically tired with each day passing. Raina is our best T20 player with experience right age for him to take the responsibility. lol at Gambhir, he should be dropped from the test team.

Actually he has 1 against Bangladesh in Bangladesh too... Sometimes, its not always about stats as Sammy showed :--D As saneindian mentioned, it is the TINA factor which is responsible for Dhoni being the captain..The only reason not to make Kohli as the captain is that we have upcoming series against Eng/Aus & SA and Pak. I would not mind sacrificing Gambhir for the short term pain

If that is the case, half of our ODI matches will have the VC captaining the side, as Sachu mama will be unavailable for useless bilateral series and all that :giggle: And as for T20, Piyush would be the perfect choice. Despite so much discussions we fans can't come out with a decent alternative. Exactly why dhoni is still being persisted. Gambhir is the next best alternative. You should be prepared to ignore his form for that to happen. I do not want Kohli to captain a side except may be T20.

:facepalm: Giving someone the captain's mantle out of the blue is a knee jerk change. It is not like Kohli has been groomed for the job. So, yes it is pretty much a flash in the pan. You would be the first one to start a thread against Kohli if he does not do well in 10 games. :giggle:

Isnt that what happened with Dhoni? Was dhoni groomed for captaincy? And that change did provide huge dividends. Sometimes making a young guy captain does work. Check SA and Smith. T20 is for youngsters anyways, Dhoni started the same way
