BeautifulGame Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 How about YuvRaj Singh? Do you guys think he's good enough to be a captain? In T20s i assume? If yes then wont be that bad a choice but will mean lack of vision imo.Kohli is the right and best choice for captaincy atm
Sachin=GOD Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 How about YuvRaj Singh? Do you guys think he's good enough to be a captain? In ODIs he's definitely good enough to be Captain but he hasn't played ODIs for a long time.
Pagalpanti Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Well it wont matter, India don't play much international t20 anyway. I guess we just play 2 t20's later this year vs Pak.
Cricshas Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 In the current situation Dhoni should continue as Captain for ODI's and Tests, BCCI can experiment in T20
Lord Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Isnt that what happened with Dhoni? Was dhoni groomed for captaincy? And that change did provide huge dividends. Sometimes making a young guy captain does work. Check SA and Smith. T20 is for youngsters anyways' date=' Dhoni started the same way[/quote'] exactly.to add Dhoni had zero experience of captaining wen he was appointed, whereas others have done it in IPL n U19 in Virat's case
vijay50 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Coming from a totally different angle, are we going to lose our lucky charm Dhoni as captain . I hope not. From luck point of view Gambhir seemd to have good luck when he captained IPL compared to Kohli. To put it in perspective, if Iam not wrong we had 3 captains during the Kumble's retirement series ( Kumble, Sehwag and Dhoni). The team was exactly similar, but we know the results of two matches that Dhoni did not captain. Probably Dhoni need to up his game and boldly drop some experienced players for few tests and reassess his captaincy after that.
yoda Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Didn't Dhoni say that he's not even interested in tests? Makes no sense in retaining him as test captain given the team's recent performance and his own test performance. Raina for T20s is fine. Dhoni should continue in ODIs till 2015 WC. Issue is with tests where barring Ashwin and Kohli no one even deserves a spot in the team.
saket123 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 It would be extremely stupid to make him a captain at this point when he is doing so well as a batsman. Making him a captain is not only gonna ruin his performance, it'll also bring down the performance of the whole team. I don't see Raina, Gambhir, Sehwag and Dhoni all playing second fiddle to a 23 year old kid.
Lord Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I dont think any captain would make a difference in tests as of now,but just to reduce Dhoni's workload I'd try Viru.his place isnt in danger to me as of now, specially on these pitches.after a while,Virat can take over as he matures
King Tendulkar Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 So Kohli becoming captain will effect his batting appaprently. Kohli is a man, he can handle it. Plus never did G Smith any harm becoming a young captain.
kubrickian Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Make him captain and destroy the best batsman we got. What else our media and our so called experts can do than spoil anything that's good ? Morons.
Lord Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 ^ how r sure it'll destroy him?chances are it'll make him even better.hes not one who cracks under responsibility
Crookbond Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Isnt that what happened with Dhoni? Was dhoni groomed for captaincy? And that change did provide huge dividends. Sometimes making a young guy captain does work. Check SA and Smith. T20 is for youngsters anyways' date=' Dhoni started the same way[/quote'] Did I say T20 captaincy should not be changed? Why do you put words into my mouth? Also, since when did exceptions become a norm. Dhoni and Smith are exceptions - it was lucky infact that they were successful. We should not get into this hack/change business. It is best left to our padosis.
VRV Singh Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 No issue with sacking Dhoni in Tests. ODIs he is a gun player and India is a good team so no need for change. T20s yes, give it to Kohli. But what is up with these people championing Gambhir as the new Test captain  he has been basically India's worst batsman for two years. You really want an excuse for BCCI to make he or Sehwag even more untouchable than they are. :haha: Seems to me the only players with 'neutral' credentials in Tests are Pujara and Kohli.
Crookbond Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Gautam Gambhir in Test Matches since 2010 No code has to be inserted here. Virender Sehwag in Test Matches since 2011 No code has to be inserted here. MS Dhoni in Test Matches since 2010 No code has to be inserted here.
vvvslaxman Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 That leaves only Ashwin :cantstop: . Back to back man of the series at home.
