I have seen tons of test matches..from 87 onwards... I have seen lot of great victories, dismal losses. But to me this will be our worst ever defeat. The pitch tailor made for our spinners and we allowed opposition to score over 400 runs. Honestly I thought we won the game when we scored 300 runs...Full marks to Pieterson..that knock is as good as Sehwag's Galle Knock. I am mostly pissed at captain and spinners. How did they allow a batsman score 180 odd...its almost impossible to score that many run by single player.. We may still win the series..But to me this will be our worst ever defeat.

I will say KP's innings was a great one. If we had him early we would've had a lead of 50 runs and pressure would have been much lesser on us under which most of our batters crumbled. Sometimes KP does some of the things which only he can do.

Ashwin and Bhajji bowled very poorly. Ashwin had already signs of future in his 2nd innings at Ahmedabad. We were lucky that we got support from pacers here, but in Mumbai it was just one bowler show. Kinda like England's first inning bowling at Ahmedabad.

Its a miracle how 3 spinners managed to bowl close to 50 overs and couldnt bowl a single wicket taking delivery and allowed a 206 run partnership build on a track where India lost 7 wickets for 110. That takes a talent in itself. Its a bit like Laxman and Dravid partnership in 2001. You got to appreciate KP and Cook for their batting.

These spinners just bowled 100+ overs in first tests and again made to bowl 80+ overs where as a fresh spinner bhajji is bowled 21 overs and yuvi who has troubled kp gets 3 overs .Dhoni has lost it.

The entire Indian team and setup is an old boys club - on performance none of Gambhir, Tendulkar, Dhoni, Yuvraj, Raina, Harbhajan should be playing test cricket but have all played in the last couple of months and will continue to be close to selection.

Considering we are so bad, we did well to win 1st test. Yes thats right folks, we are 1-0 up. Bloody hell england must be bad to lsoe to us. By the way I have been calling for chnages for a while. In particular axing dhoni. But we are still decent and may win the series. This test match has been poor though.

Its quite unfortunate that Laxman retired to give way to youngster..But we got Yuvi... Sachin should be dropped or talked that next test will be last test...

If I knew that likes of Raina and yuvi are gonna replace Laxman, I would have never though that he should retire.

Also, our spinners tend to go on the defensive very quickly. As soon as a batsman starts attacking, instead of looking at it as an opportunity to take a wicket, the spinners think of stopping the runs. Even when India play against Australia in ODIs and Watson and Warner attack spinners, they tend to put more fielders on the boundary. But in tests, you need to keep attacking to take wickets.

If the captain insists on keep attacking fields and lines, the spinners will do so.

our spinners did a decent job IMO.. Apart from cook and peterson , the rest of the wickets fell quickly. 300 in the 1st innings was never a good score..blame the batsmen for this mess.. GG viru sachin uv kohli no one is dependable.

I said Laxman should have retired after Australia at home, we badly needed him in this lineup where only 1 batsman is in form, he would never have struggled against the likes of Monty Panesar

True, just like Tendulkar Bhai has been taking Panesar to the cleaners. :hysterical:

True' date=' just like Tendulkar Bhai has been taking Panesar to the cleaners. :hysterical:[/quote'] He has already reincarnated into Pujara and is just in the team to make sure the handover goes smoothly. On a serious note he just needs to get going he hits a few boundaries early on looks in good form then gets unlucky or loses concentration. Honestly think laxman would have done the business, some of his best knocks have been in the second innings playing on difficult pitches last one where he had the chance to do this was probably v SA in '10 where he saved us the match.
