Is This the Worst Stretch in Indian Cricket History??

Ever since I recall following cricket, I have honestly NOT seen our test side so listless for such a stretch. Our side doesn't seem to have answers for any situation and to add further embarrassment we are getting dominated by other sides not quite at their peak!! To make things worse for the fans and followers, it seems the board, selection comm, and captaan are all painting a rosy picture and not acknowledging that things have gone from bad to worse. At the very least I would expect an overhaul of the team and the start of a rebuilding process (I'm sure there are ppl who think that we only need to make a few cosmetic changes here and there but that is exactly what has been done over the past 2 yrs). We have a few very solid pieces in place to rebuild a strong test side but the negativity surrounding our side is weighing the entire team down. Can anyone remember a worst stretch for India in test cricket?? 4-0 in Eng, 4-0 in Aus, a lucky 2-0 win against NZ where we won due to the poor NZ batting and now this against England (currently at 9-3 in the last 12 tests!! going towards 10-3 if we don't turn things around in Eden)

I feel so, worst in the last 15 years. England and Australia we played like we don't even deserve a test status. Now receiving pounding even at home. So much turd in the team. Dhoni's excuses after every match sum up the mentality.

excuse after series even we beat england in 2007 there s nothing to worry about:cantstop: i wonder how kohli must be feeling now..attirude like come to our home and we will show u will take a big hit i guess and maybe for good :P

As we progressed past each defeat last year (5-0, 6-0, 7-0....) the media and the stats kept telling us that this was the worst period since 1970, 1961, 1955....it kept going backwards. So yes, more or less this is the worst in living memory. If things don't change at the end of this series I give up.

Needs to beat down his attitude down a bit. He'll do fine! Though he is usually good with that sort of attitude. :cantstop: He'll come out good!!

yes he will i know but if he dreams to captain the side in future he should remember this loss and keep i mind when ur crap side u will defeated both away and home games... 90's were differenrt now sides tour each other more just like how we benefitted form this (we did learnt to play away from home just fine in last decade ) other sides will too this whole crying for pitches which suit u is wrong yes have advantage at home but dont make it the only reason u win at home! :wall:

what i mean is this is same track where we will score 600 runs and other team will score 400 then we will destroy them in 2nd innings advantage is still there we are just too bad a side to even use it.. same thing happened in australia instead of putting up fight like we did in previous tours we just gave up from the only side in world who could challenge mighty aussies to this i have never seen such sharp decline.. maybe only with south africa after 2003 world cup .. :hmmm: they lost like 10 matches in row i think :cantstop:

no there was a period before where gavasker was the front-line seamer.
Did we lose 9 out of 12 matches or worse with the famed spin quartet? I don't think so. That was an era of a lot of drawn games but I don't recall reading about us getting dominated so overwhelmingly over a period?

90s was even worse. We used to lose everything, only Sachin used to score runs and we had stalwarts like Dodda Ganesh, Devang Gandhi, David Johnson, Vikram Rathore, Sujith Somsunder. :fear:

confidence level is down...there is no inspiration. I have seen lot of bad days..Remember saffers were 200/1 and we came back..We have came back so many times after bad sesssion, day. But this team is incapable of that...

I have seen worse than this.. This is purely because of over expectatiion ...pls understand that we have lost laxman dravid kumble bhajji and ganguly in the last 3 yrs.. we are going through a phase where new players are coming in settling down.. so it is going to be tough to win even at home... We are going to struggle for the next 2 yrs or so with sachin and zaheer going out.. better lower our expectations..

Let us not miss a critical point here... The reason I think this is the worst stretch is because this team is still 'perceived' to be a relatively strong batting side and I don't buy the excuse of losing dravid and laxman (as both those guys were part of the earlier 0-8 drubbings and showed signs of accelerated aging on the cricket field). The inaction of the captain and board is the most alarming thing here. No one is conceeding that this is a DIRE situation. I agree with the post above that falling from #1 to such depths is stunning

We whitewashed England at home and never lost 8 consecutive matches away from home. At least we would have never lost to this England team on Mumbai track in 90s.

Batting gone down, bowling just not good enough!! Captaincy not even uninspirational, infact demoralising... If selectors don't take some tough decisions, I'm sure things will go down from mediocrity to oblivion! I'm helpless at the sad state of affairs in Indian cricket right now! It is so depressing to follow Indian cricket at this juncture! People are still living in denial! Nobody cares or nobody is accountable! I've decided to not support India from here on.... I can't bear the disappointments anymore..
