Pagalpanti Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 I don't get how people judge players. People keep saying Rohit is selected for wrong format looking at his FC record. Jadeja just became the first Indian to slam 3 triple in FC cricket and yet he is bashed even before playing a test because he sucked in ODI's? At least he performed once in a while with both bat and ball. Rohit has been pure cr@p in limited overs. The whole CSK-bias thing is stupid. Chawla, Ishant aren't CSK players.

BERGKAMP Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 good choice. he will do well if he plays. think of him as a world class batsmen who bowls a bit, and is also the best fielder in the world bar none. don't think of him as a front line bowler.

vvvslaxman Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 He earned his place. No question. It is a different matter whether he clicks or not. Let us wish him instead of predicting his doom . Nobody expects him to take a 10fer and score 300 against England.

CG Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 People Need to look at Yuvi Fc record he averages nearly 45 even with the bad test match performance. Yes we got to give first class records importance but look at quality of opposition faced and conditions and weakness of a player.Jadeja has a shoddy front foot defence and more so hangs on his backfoot everytime. We need to build for the future and back right players like Sa did with ab,amla through thick and thin.I wish Rahane plays ahead of him somehow.
The Outsider Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 It will be utter nonsense if Jadeja plays ahead of Rahane, who has been the backup middle order batsman for 3 series now.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Picking players on stats is never a good idea. jadeja isn't as good a batsman as rahane, rohit or tiwary. The dumb **** selectors are paid to notice these things. Is it just me or are they desperate to pick a lefty at number 6? Yuvraj, raina, jadeja...
India-KXIP fan Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Should have been Rohit. Jadeja won't play, Rahane will.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Should have been Rohit. Jadeja won't play' date=' Rahane will.[/quote'] Rahane has been released to play ranji
The Outsider Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Rahane has been released to play ranji That's only for this round while the third test was going on. He is in the fourth test squad.
Sooda Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 As far as the selectors are concerned Rahane is a top order batsman and will probably only play if there is a slot to fill there. Jadeja is more likely to play than him Id have thought, though yes it should be Rahane as he is the more accomplished batsman. Even if it means playing at 6 Jadeja can offer something with the ball too of course, will count in his favour. One of the things MSD did not do so well is using Yuvraj and Sehwag to bowl a bit instead of bowling Ojha and Ash through such extended spells especially in test 2
Dhoni_fan Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Fair enough we are 2-1 down and played like crap but you guys are very quick to jump on the negative band wagon! Jadeja had the English batsmen in fits in ODIS last year! Cook has played well but the fact of the matter is our batting is what has let us down because England have still shown themselves weak against good spin bowling! faced with Jadeja I have no doubt old scars from last year when we hammered them 5-0 will come to the surface again this can only be a positive for our team.
CG Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 If People have followed MSD And Indian Cricket ,They know how much MSD misses Jadeja Even more than his wifey sometimes.

Jadeja is more likely to play than him Id have thought, though yes it should be Rahane as he is the more accomplished batsman. Even if it means playing at 6 The squad at the start of the series had Rahane and Vijay as backup batsmen. Clearly, if there was an injury to Yuvraj, Rahane was the middle order back up batsman. Same was the case in the NZ series when Raina was playing in the middle order. Jadeja can offer something with the ball too of course, will count in his favour. One of the things MSD did not do so well is using Yuvraj and Sehwag to bowl a bit instead of bowling Ojha and Ash through such extended spells especially in test 2 If Jadeja plays ahead of Rahane, it will be a joke of epic proportions. This is not ODI or T20 cricket where bits and pieces contributions should be someone into the side.

Cook was not part of that ODI side and its him who is proving to be the difference between the two sides. He has been a rock against Indian spinners and he virtually cant seem to get out without scoring a big century. Luck has been on his side but still removing him early is crucial if India has to bowl England out cheaply.
Eternal Atma Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 I can see why he was chosen and I think at least it shows intent on the part of the selectors. But I would have gone for Tiwary. He batted well against england in the practice games and seems to bat well under pressure when wickets are falling. This is the kind of person you need long term at 6. I still think Jaddu can have an impact on the game as nagpur ground is like rajkot.
