He is not the answer and he will never be a strike bowler or world class' date=' which we do not have anyway, but can certainly be a decent [b']3rd pacer in away conditions like South Africa where he will get seam and swing. This pitch was dead as a dodo. Dont you think we have better options for the position of 3rd seamer..Lets leave Zaheer aside for a moment...lets assume Yadav is our stike bowler and we have 2 more slots to be grabbed amongst 4 candidates, Ishant, Shami Ahmed, V Aaron & Parwinder Awana...Who would you give it to?? My obivious choice would be Ishant & S Ahmed.

He is not a trundler by any means. He might not be the most talented. You need to calm down with your range, where does 143 come from? He bowled two overs yesterday in a T20 match. That is 12 legal deliveries. What would a fast bowler do debuting for his country in front of an almost full stadium and millions watching around the world? Well he would run out there, thinking I will only bowl 4 overs so I will bowl as fast as I can. But what does he bowl, he starts with 132 and hit one ball close to 140 and the rest were 133-136. So if a bowler can't bowl over 140s bowling just 2 overs, how can you expect him to bowl that quick in the longer formats on flat wickets? The only bowler from India who can bowl 10 overs on trot maintaining high speed is Yadav. But unfortunately for him he is injured alot and has to work hard on his fitness, otherwise he might have to compromise reducing his pace in order to avoid injuries. Regarding Shami Ahmed, he will first have to show his skills at international level before we can comment on his speed and temperament.

We need to give him a bit more time at least 1 year. And you cannot focus on just 4-5. You need make a pool because once injuries occur, you need to have replacements ready. If Shami had played yesterday and even Shami is only as quick as Awana, he too would have been thrashed as much as Awana. T20 is not his game and we do not want to be. Dinda and Awana are not the answers, but they still are options.

Not that he's a phaasst bowler, but there could be many factors like debut nerves etc at play.

He did show he can bowl 135-143K in IPL, even Ranji trophy he has bowled that intense spells of 135_140 range.

Regarding Shami, yes he has potential, but he is still to learn a lot. He will struggle on Indian flat tracks. He is not yet ready to play test cricket and he bowls at pretty much similar pace at of Awana and Dinda 135-140. He is not 90 mph like Yadav.

Get him out asap. Get talented players who can step up to international level and win games for us.

He is not going to play much in India since we have Yadav, Ishant, Aaron etc. but he can certainly do well in favorable conditions as he can move the ball both ways. So at placed likes SA, he can be handful and he bowls good length which is normally carted in T20s but can be good in Tests and posses decent pace. Regarding talented bowlers. We do not have 140-145+ plus bowlers other than Yadav and Aaron in domestic cricket. Most our bowlers are 135-140 range.

Ishant also bowls 140+ but bowled within himself in tests because pitches were flat and had to bowl longer spells.

Remember, Asia up, he was barely clocking 135 in ODIs. Ishant is a rhythm bowler. When he gets it right, can bowl 145K.

Getting the pitchforks out after two overs of t20 is quite funny (that is the people who had not seen him previously and had no apprehensions about his FC stats). End of the day the pool of bowlers currently in the picture for India is hardly full. If rkt is right that he can move it both ways at 130+ then he is worth persisting with. Some guys here are doing what they accuse selectors of by mixing formats up. I have my apprehensions over his FC bowling average but am not going to cut myself over him getting hit in T20. I worry for this Shami Ahmed, he has had so much more attention than Awana on ICF - if he struggles whenever he makes his t20 debut then the place will go into meltdown probably.

If they do well there, that's great but usually the pitches are flat as roads and conditions are stacked against pacers. We should only look at A tours, test matches and Ranji trophy games played in helpful conditions.
