Lot of jokers here were saying Umesh wasn't good enough. Now the same jokers say that he is the best fast indian bowler in recent times. Some of the posters here have never tried to bowl fast in their ****ing life.

Pathan is leagues ahead of some of the names mentioned in the OP. Also Awana looked like he will join the long list of mediocre players yesterday,I still think we should hold on a little longer,because I did see him bowl some good spells in IPL...IPL is not a benchmark but i would give him a little longer.

People here supporting inclusion of Pankaj Singh, he bowls only at 130-135 Ks, but gets some good swing and bounce in helpful conditions. Same may be the case with Awana, he infact bowls much faster than Pankaj Singh. I remember Pankaj Singh bowling in 125 to 130 Ks speed only in IPL 2012.

Agree...I angered a lot of posters here when I said,he is in the PK mould of bowlers. Playing him in most SC conditions or in LOI will change a lot of opinions about him here.

Consistent good performances at FC level should always be a benchmark and should be well rewarded,that's why no one complained about Jadeja's inclusion in the test squad despite us knowing his standard at international level. Similarly Pankaj Singh earned his spot and deserves a chance,I am not a phaaast bowling fanatic,so I think he earned his chance over Ishant,....It's my personal opinion from what little I saw from him that he is average,as a Indian team fan,I would be happy to be proven wrong. I was true about Yadav and Aaron in the past,when I said Yadav was way ahead of aaron and didn't rate Aaron a lot despite him being a phaaast bowler too.

Yes, Pankaj Singh has defenitely upped his pace by about 5 Ks to 130-135 ish as can be seen in this 5 For against Bengal. I want to say that Awana's speed is more than enough if he can get some good seam movement and bounce in tests. Speed should not be the only criterion, and Awana's speed are good enough.

Agreed, as I said Pankaj Singh gets good bounce and seam movement, so will be effective even at that pace. So let's not judge Awana based on 2 overs of T20 stuff on a dead pitch. Let's see how he performs in A tours and any chances if he gets in International tests.

Munaf Patel was not a trundler. he burst on to scene as 90 mph speedster. High hopes. In fact on debut against england scared the hell . But then became a trundelr due to lack of heart and injuries.

90 mph speedster? Fastest he bowled in his debut series was 144 kph to Collingwood.

aaron is average test bowler has done nothing in first class crickt pankaj has been consistent and plz see his spell vs bengal im sure it will convince u live tht performance looked even better cos we saw amount of pressure he had on batters and then snotters he bowl out of no where

Also Aaron is injury-prone, so it would be good if we can develop him just for LOIs. Umesh should be played just in tests so that he can give it his all.

yep..in future umesh can bowl in odis but right now should just concentrate on tests even shami ahmed who is gtting hyped up now a days is also more suited to tests then odis selectors need to pick bowlers properly for correct format and not destroy them by bowling last over on debut! :wall:

I really liked Dinda in the previous game,didn't bowl like a moron,had good control and looked like he had a plan and also bowled at a decent pace.I think he can be persisted in LOI for a while Then there is extreme with someone like Ashwin...tries too many things when things don't work out. Right now our best LOI bowler like it or not is Pathan,really has been doing well under pressure.

in odis australias best bowler is that clint mackay guy not pattinson ,not cummings and now i think starc will fit in nicely (he is good at both needs to improve in tests) just need to pick guys according to format even i think dinda has some potential to be good in limited overs cricket...he will do better then balaji anyday :--D

Instead of wasting Umesh in LOI...actually wont be a bad idea to give Ishant a go in ODI's...he has been pretty economical in Test matches...He has pace and has been accurate even though not threatening...Might bring in the extra pace we have been missing in our LOI bowling line up...may be that will be his lucky format.

lol....ishant will get destroyed in odis he cannot bowl yorkers track will be flat and his short of length crap will be cannon fodder
