Awana was quicker when he was younger? Where is the evidence for that? Pankaj has played ODIs in the past and will no doubt get a spot soon. Abu Nechim is a mediocre domestic performer. Suyal has played just 13 First Class matches. There is a limit to the extent one can be fast tracked due to a number on a speed gun. It is about the numbers on the scorecard. That is what wins matches!

Not one of them is extremely quick in the range of 90 mph as Yadav and Aaron were or Sandeep Warrier is talked about. In India if yoiu are quick, clock 145, you are always followed and everyone watches you because 145K bowlers are exceptions in India. Sandeep is getting a lot of praise, but we cannot be sure until we see him.

Young fast bowlers who can bowl 140s should be fast tracked atleast to A team. With proper guidance they can learn swing line and length etc. Its very rare that a pace bowler add pace when they get old. Y s it pakis keep on producing quicks? Are they racially superior? Nope. They select bowlers who bowl quick, it doesn't matter if they don't know anything about swing or seam, they can learn it , but u cannot teach a bowler how to bowl fast. Its hard to explain. Not many wanna do it bcoz its harder than holding a bat and smack the ball around the park and only few people do it bcoz they wanna run in hard bowl quick and scare d batsman.

The stupid thing that Indian selectors did earlier was they never used to promote young pacers even if they are quick or talented directly into A tour or the national side. They were treated like spinners and made to "prove" themselves year after year on flat, batting tracks. Obviously, after getting hit around by even mediocre batsmen in domestic cricket they would lose confidence and also became injury prone because of long spells. Munaf Patel is a good example of this. Its a welcoming sign that now some pace bowlers like Umesh, Varun Aaron at least are getting fast tracked rather than having to toil away in FC. If they have some pace and get seam movement and can pick wickets, they should be getting opportunities as much as possible.

He was never selected 4 years back in the Gatorade Pace Competition, in fact, the Gatorade Competition started in 2007 and Awana had already made his debut for Delhi in 2007. He won the ESPN Scorpio Speedster Contest in 2004. During the contest, he bowled at 138 kph and emerged victorious. Ashok Dinda came 2nd, and both were sent to Brisbane to learn the ropes of fast bowling from Damien Fleming.

Pathan and Ishant were fast-tracked at an earlier age than Yadav or Aaron.

KLPD in store (probably) The best thing that the Sandeep Warrier news has done till now is to relegate Sreesanth's comeback 4-wicket haul to the sidelines. Everyone agrees that Warrior is the most promising bowler from Kerala presently, and this might mean that Sreesanth does 'waterboy' duties in this year's Deodhar/or next year's Duleep. :dance:
