The Conditions & bowlers , likes of Ganguly , Dravid and Tendulkar scored against where very different ..England had a very mediocre attack & the pitches where extremly flat . Not taking any credit away , but even Kumble , Inzy :D and Agarkar got 100s ..Touring England got only difficult in the past 5 years , Only Dravid scored in real swinging conditions.

Please close this thread forever and delete if possible. We make mistakes and it takes a man to gracefully admit it :giggle:. Kohli is the best Indian batsman. Period. P.S. The manifesto was drafted by Saurav. Don't come after me!:winky::icflove:
Wondering what Sandeep got to say now? :cantstop: How time changes

That is pathetic.

In the last 5 years too' date=' likes of Mishra and Dhoni got 90s and 80s.[/quote'] These guys don't get to face the new ball. Their 80s and 90s aren't really comparable to similar knocks made by top order batsmen, in English conditions. Moreover, it is easier to start swinging your bat once you know that your team has been shot down. Tail enders rarely make runs when the top order makes these runs.

Am not justifying , surely they should have batted better . My point is Touring England these days probabaly like how touring SA was in the 90s and 2000s . I woukd just not count them out as yet . Specifically VK , Pujara and Rahane are special players who will come through imo

Virat Kohli not responsible for his failures, says A K Antony A K Antony has just submitted a report listing reasons behind the Congress party’s monumental failure in the recent general elections. Among other things, he exonerated Rahul Gandhi and stated that defeatist attitude of senior leaders, the strong campaign by Modi and a perceived bias towards minorities contributed to the Congress’ failure. He also said that the expectations unleashed by Modi will prove to be the BJP’s undoing. Antony’s diagnostic skills are now also being sought by the corporate sector. Unilever India has requested the veteran Congress leader to ink a similar report that analyzes the reasons for Kohli’s miserable run with the bat in the ongoing series in a manner that Kohli is absolved of all blame for his failures. Given that Kohli, along with Anushka Sharma, is the brand ambassador for Unilver’s flagship brand, Clinic anti-dandruff shampoo, the Unilever management is pinning hopes on Antony’s report burnishing Kohli’s image. The report, which will be submitted in a few months, is expected to make the following points: 1) Virat Kohli has been trying very hard. Even his captain has said that he is hitting the ball well. So he cannot be the reason for his failures. 2) As soon as India lost the Southampton Test, cricket followers turned negative and cynical in their criticism of Kohli. This created a defeatist mindset and made India lose two, probably three, Tests in a row. This ‘negativist’ attitude should be blamed for Kohli’s failure. 3) This series has been played in England where abundance of moisture in the air makes the ball swing. This is not usually seen in India and more so in Delhi. This is the primary cause for the repeated failures of Kohli. The scores could have been very different if the series had been played in Delhi in peak summer. 4) Virat Kohli has been very liberal in the way he has gotten out. He has gotten out to Broad, Anderson and Plunkett. He has also gotten out to Moeen Ali. If anything, this establishes the openness and secular credentials of Kohli. He needs to be commended for this. 5) The England team has been criminally unsporting. Dhoni, Jadeja and Kohli have charitably dropped catches offered by English players. On the other hand, the Englishmen have been taking all catches offered by Kohli. This is unethical and needs to be condemned. 6) Kohli has looked the most distraught among all Indian batsmen after getting out. Vijay may look sad and Pujara may look forlorn, but Kohli has been able to display far more emotion. This shows that whether he makes runs or not, viewers can trust his performance in shampoo advertisements. 7) England have been thrashed by Australia and beaten at home by Sri Lanka. After winning two-three matches in a row against India, their expectations will be high for the World Cup and for next Ashes. However, we expect them to fail in their own expectations. HUL are happy with the findings. In return, Antony has requested them to feature Sreesanth along with Kohli in their next shampoo dance advertisement.

Pujara's indecisive game seemed shocking. That is the biggest heartbreak. .
Pujara looked very good in first 3 tests, got starts, scored a 50 too, but could not play long innings an later that form faded away too. He became indecisive and was slow to react to the balls coming into him.

You have no clue what you are even speaking about

Dont think conditions have changed much, but bowling is far better right now. Anderson of 2007 and now, a huge difference between the two. He these days is barely bowling lose balls, really consistent and when there is swing he is just unplayable, one needs to be really lucky to survive along with mental fortitude and Broad to literally has not given opportunities to score runs. Both have been brilliant in last 3 tests.

True. Seems only a few people have an idea as to what Sachin actually achieved.
I think it had come to a point where we had started taking Sachin for granted without actually realizing that he was a surreal player. Anyways, let's hope this doesn't turn Kohli into another Yuvi. We mayn't have a new Sachin but let's have a few decent test bats.

You do not get Sachin, Dravid's by dozens. They are once in a generation players.

I don't think vk deserves the test captaincy after his zombie like performance in this series
Yep, that's my point as well. How can we reward such a terrible performance?
