vandokkum Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Batsmen are idolized in India than bowlers. That's the simple answer for it. Pitches are also made batsmen friendly. But I think we may be seeing a change in it, which accounts for more seamers and faster bowlers coming into the picture recently. Back in 90s, we had V Prasad, Kuruvilla, David Johnson, Mhambrey, Mohanty as our frontline bowlers who never bowled more than 110-120. :cantstop: Also Sreesanth is not mediocre. His problem is temperament and he had a couple of injury setbacks. Srinath was actually the only decent seamer in the 90's, the others were laughably bad. India would be better off if they stopped obsessing over batsmen and actually invest in bowlers, In test cricket bowlers win matches. I actually thought Ishant Sharma would go on to be a really good bowler when he debuted, but it seems like he has actually gone down. Averaging close to 40, Indian coaches should all be sacked.

The reason was easily behind his fitness. If he was fit enough he would have had some really good numbers out there. Each time he comes out to bowl in a series he has got a new face supporting him who generally fails. By Indian standards, he has been more than consistent.

By Indian standards, he has been more than consistent. he actually always got support some how in south africa sreesanth in england rp singh in india ishant was good for year or 2 in australia yadav did all right to support him :P

Australia wasn't his best but wasn't his worst either.

Let these guys face the big boys of Australia and England You just got your A&& handed to you in your own backyard by these pathetic pakistanis. :finger: By the way go look at their bowling figures in auss and england for past few years and then talk or just stop talking out of your :bootyshake: Back on topic- Shami looks good but still its too early to judge as pakistani batsmen are no world beaters.

Elsewhere people will be proud of Shami/Aaron/Yadav. We just need to guide them, protect them from T20 garbage, reduce their injury rate, develop their bodies. We need to get rid of quota selection system and never ever select likes of Vinay Kumar for India, if such players can develop their batting then play them as allrounder but as a leading bowler they deserve no place. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar can bat and will only get better and can play as allrounder in non swinging conditions too. My future bowling line-up that will serve India for next decade - Shami Ahmed Varun Aaron Umesh Yadav Harmeet Singh Pervez Rasool How good is this guy? Is he not more of a batsman than a bowler?

Yet he remained the most "consistent" and the most successful Indian bowler for over a decade. that tells me a lot about the Indian bowling powerhouse. I am yet to see anything superlative from any of these bowlers (except for that first ball Bhuvneshkumar bowled in the first ODI). Give these guys a go in international conditions and watch them fall like a house of cards.

Zaheer Best years came from 2007.The spell in pakistan on flattest track in the world where he got some awesome reverse swing in a condition where had a bigger belly than shewag just showed his skill.He was dropped after that but he got fitter bowled overs in county and came back a changed person. Regarding young bowlers we never had somebody like yadav who is genuine quick also if ishant can get his problems sorted out we have a decent seam attack with support from aaron,shami,pandey.

By the time Zak started to do something in international cricket consistently, he was 29 years of age and had passed his prime fast bowling years already. If Ishant plays for 12 years, he too will have as many wickets as Zak has. Zak have not done anythig extra ordinary and where the term bowling powerhouse which we never were. We have always been batting powerhouse and now even that is questionable.
