yes' date='lets do tuk tuk[/quote'] Naah play normal cricket, around 3.5 an over for around 5 and a half hours ~ 80-85 overs and give the last hour to Australia, hopefully by then we will be 200-225 ahead. No need to be over aggressive. Just to remind, we are still 125 behind and not 125 ahead.

It is completely non sense of few ppl here to match there score and declare..U giving pportunity to the ausies to bat in 4th day and u will bat last.. Instead try to get 200 ahead and declare with 20 overs to go..This will deteriorate the pitch further. In securing a draw no matter how slow the run rate is, a team will score 200 runs in abt 120 overs..(infact much more) If they are bold out for say 250 in 100 overs then u can chase 50 odd in 7-8 overs..

if 7- 8 overs are left, then bat like a t20 match. Dhawan is capable of scoring that much. Vijay will go ipl mode. Then there's dhoni.

yep..batting fast for such a short time is not a big deal..but if u declare with score level.. First u give them opportunity to bat in much better condition secondly it would be hard to chase 250 odd in even 60 overs last day.. In doing so u can also loose the match

We'll find out tomorrow if Kaptaan phattu's mentality has changed as Gavaskar was claiming or not. The ideal declaration would be at a point where you feel is the minimum score you can bowl out Australia for - I would say 150. So they should look to declare with a lead of around 150 and back themselves to chase whatever Australia score on top of that in the 4th innings. That's another 275 runs and with some luck should be achievable in 60-65 overs, still leaving 135-140 overs in the game.

Why should we risk anything or make adventerous declaration, when we are already 2-0 up? In the chase for quick runs, we can also go for a quick collapse. lets not get over excited. If we lose 3 quick wickets before lunch tomorrow, we dont have much batting left after that. Remember we are playing with only 5 recognized batsmen. Given half a chance, Aussies will try to go for a win. We should play normal cricket and keep wickets intact till we are about 50 runs ahead and then take it from there. Make sure that there are only two possible (win or draw) results and not three.

To win 3 Test matches in a series, something which we have never done.

for precisely that reason - we are 2-0 up and have all 10 wickets in hand so we can afford to take a few risks and play aggressive cricket.

Bat till 10 overs after tea and declare Don't understand why we have to be defensive? I mean there is no way we are losing this test match. We need to take the initiative and declare sportingly.
It is not the question of being defensive, but you can't slog to get fast runs in test cricket without losing quick wickets. Thats why it is important to take session by session and access the situation from there.

Dhawan and vijay didn't slog and still made runs @ 5 r.p.o today. If they bat slowly for the 1st 10 overs tomorrow then they can hit the accelerator from there and make quick runs without taking many risks. But if do lose quick wickets in the 1st session tomorrow then we will have to go for a draw.
