Really? How many times Ponting was accused of being a good captain? Clarke has shown enterprise as a captain so far, even though he doesn't have a really good team under him. I'm 100% sure he wouldn't have settled for a draw the way India did in that test match in Windies in 2011. That was one of the most timid captaincy I've ever seen.

Wickets of Vijay and Sehwag are there for the asking any time the Aussies want it, but missing out on another possible 30-40 runs could prove to be costly for them. You dont need to declare to dismiss Vijay and Sehwag.

We all know that Mohali and Hyderabad always has bounce, Yes India has a stronghold in Mohali but thats because we havent been seeing turners at Mohali prior to Dhoni asking for turners in the last series. When we have pitches with cracks opening up and still have bounce especially bounce, it will be easily a game for either side considering India's falling batting standards off late. However, current Australian side is pretty inexperienced to take the advantages of that. Had England been here, it would have been a different case. The only flaw in my comment though is I never watch the test at Eden Gardens and dont know how the pitch behaved for India to be losing that one as we all know Kolkata to be traditionally low and slow turner. Maybe you can tell me better.

Didnt see the 2nd part of today's game especially after tea. Sad to miss out on the collapse. But anyways this declaration as it seems is a very bad move by CLarke especially since first innings runs are crucial on a pitch which will definitely turn on day 3 and day 4. Australia have missed a trick by giving up on some cheap last wicket runs that Indians were going to provide.

But was Clarke right in his thinking that Sehwag or Vijay were more likely to get out in these 3 overs then any other 3 overs. What was different in these 3 overs? Playing conditions were worse for these 3 overs and which he thought to be improving in morning? I would have suggested overnight declaration so that Australians had a chance to exploit early morning juice in pitch. Would have given extra 5 overs to my tail-enders.

Clarke wanted to surprise and go into the EOD with an mental advantage of 1 Indian wicket to prep up his troops. It was more a mental ploy than anything.
