There are no hard and fast rules for how long you should mourn. I know people who go through occasional depression over the loss of their dear ones for years. Each individual is different. Each relationship is different. Don't use the yardstick to judge him. Having said your brother himself has admitted depression is increasing. So you might want to help him anyway you can. You are a better judge than us how to handle the situation.

Yes that's why I started thread to know whether in these kind of situations whether Psychiatrist or Psychologist is better.Professional help in India is something you can't even discuss with elders ,they just get shocked and can't even believe that a young man may require it

He/she would be an expert in providing therapy through communication. A psychiatrist is someone who can counsel, and more importantly, has the necessary qualifications to prescribe medicines. Know this since I have a couple of psychiatrists in my broader family. I think your brother would need a psychologist presently unless things get that serious.
SLICKR392 Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Very sad to hear bro. Hope everything gets back to normal real soon.
rahulrulezz Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Sorry to hear that bro.. May god give you enough strength... Only advice I can give us is that don't leave your brother alone..Be there with him, call him at random times, take him to restraurants, movies etc etc.. Don't let him feel alone at all. Maybe you can take role of your father for him..
Lord Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 My condolences to you n your family bro.may his soul RIP I think there is nothing wrong with counselling,so if your brother is ready, give him that help, but generally, its you who needs to help him get over this loss
Pagalpanti Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Sorry for your loss but at this time just share some wonderful and happy thoughts he had with his father. The more you distract him or he runs away from accepting this loss the longer it'll take for him to move on.
