Nova Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Can anyone recommend really good Iranian movies? Hollywood, Bollywood, Tollywood...or any other wood.. it does not matter. I read the reviews and then watch the movie. Being selective means I, generally, tend to watch good movies from any part of the world.
King Tendulkar Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I know hollywood films are better in every possible aspect. But prefer watching bollywood
punjabi_khota Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I personally only watch bhojpuri movies ( tumhar logai humar bhojai..types). Keeps bp low and libido high.

Lurker Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Bollywood has retrograded...Watch this movie to understand the difference between films and movies. MOs1ReVcDA4 That's exactly the kind of movie I am talking about. Paar when made in India wont be viewed by masses as it would be deemed an "art' movie. Such movie would be created as an indie movie in the West and suddenly comes around to India wrapped in a package and people lap it up. Let me explain it differently. One of the recent great movies from indie Hollywood is considered to be Little Miss Sunshine. Good movie but a classic?? It was nominated for 4 Oscars and won 2, including Alan Arkin as best supporting actor. Now I like Arkin as an actor but for chrissake he played sexually depraved Grandpa wanting Jugs magazine and died in first half. He won Oscar for that kidding me? Same year we produced Khonsla ka Ghonsla. You can call it Indian indie. A feel good movie revolving around a family. Pound for pound Khonsla ka Ghonsla is a much better movie than Little Miss Sunshine. But dont tell that to those who love Hollywood for the heck of it.
ganeshran Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Hollywood movies have better production quality because of the acting/technical talent they are able to attract with better pay packets. if Bollywood movies reach the same budget/earning potential as their western counterparts, they will be at par in other aspects too.
Desi Cartman Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I connect more with Hindi movies but quality wise, obviously hollywood is better
The Outsider Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Between a great Hollywood and a great Bollywood movie, I would pick Bollywood because it's just so closer to home. Between a good/average Hollywood movie and a good/average Bollywood movie I would go for Hollywood. Between a trashy Hollywood movie and a trashy Bollywood movie, will go for Bollywood trash. Voted for the last option since none of the others fit my preference.
CG Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Japanese movies like ran, yojimbo and russian world war movies like Letter Never Sent are must watch.
surajmal Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Much of the Bollywood runs on Underworld/Hawala/Dubai money. So quality is out of the question.
Clarke Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Pound for pound Khonsla ka Ghonsla is a much better movie than Little Miss Sunshine. But dont tell that to those who love Hollywood for the heck of it. Khosla ka Ghosla must have made more than 10 times what Little Miss Sunshine collected in our country. I'm not sure what you imply by this example but those that are biased towards Hollywood without rhyme or reason are an extremely tiny group pseudo-intellectuals (i.e. Aamir Khan fans :winky: ).
Nova Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Children of Heaven White Balloon Color of Paradise Baran Turtles Can Fly Song of Sparrows A Separation Thanks. Added to my list. :two_thumbs_up:
Debutant Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I only watch action or comedy movies. Hollywood action and comedy movies are great to watch. In Bollywood in action movies also they will start their love story nautanki eg Dhoom 2 - first hour is awesome then enters Mrs Sunari and the movie becomes a borefest. Bollywood does not know how to produce good action movies. There are some good comedies/movies in bolly coming out now a days like 3 idiots, Dhamal, Golmaal ie out and out comedies. No love story boring ****.

No love story boring ****. She was looking hot. And the action in that movie was nothing special. You know that you are gay when you enjoy Hrithik Roshan's idiotic antics and get bored when Aish comes out to dance in skimpy clothes.
moniker Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 The very fact that we choose to call it as "Bollywood" gives us an idea of our originality. I have always wondered who the idiot was that came up with this wonderful idea.
Mariyam Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Much of the Bollywood runs on Underworld/Hawala/Dubai money. So quality is out of the question. Not anymore. One of the few good acts of the Shiv Sena was that it saved Bollywood from the clutches of the underworld.
Mariyam Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Foreign films from all over are my preference. Then Hollywood.... Then Regional Indian films.. I dont recall a single memorable Bollywood film that I have seen in the past 5 years. The last film I really liked was Johnny Gaddar. Bollywood movies from the last 5 years that I think you may like: Paan Singh Tomar Stanley ka Dabba Shaitan Road to Sangam Love, Sex and Dhokha The Japanese Wife Guzaarish Phas gaye re Obama Dabangg :D
Debutant Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 She was looking hot. And the action in that movie was nothing special. You know that you are gay when you enjoy Hrithik Roshan's idiotic antics and get bored when Aish comes out to dance in skimpy clothes. It was not Hritik Roshan. It was supposed to be an action movie not some love story which are pathetic. If you can sit through 3 hours of pure bullshit just because the heroine is beautiful then better keep watching her poster at home. Why waste 3 hours.
Sidhoni Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 No votes for Tollywood - where are the southies?
