And the point is that the replacement will be worse. It's not easy for openers from the subcontinent to perform in places like Australia and South Africa. There are A tours coming up and if some opener can perform well' date=' sure get him in. But just putting in hacks like Vijay and Mukund and hoping for the best is not going to help. It also doesn't help that gambhir doesnt learn from his mistakes and our middle order is unsettled. We don't even know when Sachin will retire. I guess what we can do is give him the Aussies series and let him bat in the middle order and see how it goes. It's better to experiment at home rather than in South Africa later on this year.

i agree he should play but i dont agree in putting our hopes in his hands..as in past he has not done much in such conditions..

I am willing to give Sehwag one more series and that should be the Australia series and he should bat in the middle order since he has wanted to do that for a long time now. So, let's see if he enjoys that. The other guy is enjoying his cricket and it's not doing too good for the team:--D

His "attitude" and mannerisms have always come across as casual. Even I was not happy at the way he played the IPL and was playing the England tests on a stretcher. More than that I am worried about his approach to batting. It's not that he has not got starts, but on those occasions he has thrown it away sometimes hitting full tosses from spinners. That needs to be changed, but if he can do that, he is better than any opener in the country. Or he can play in the middle order but needs to play more percentage cricket. I am hoping his getting dropped from the ODI side will change it, similar to the last time he was dropped in '07.

Unfortunately since being dropped from ODIs, Sehwag has hardly worked on his fitness. Has added a few more KGs and will be seen in an even worse fitness during the Irani Trophy.

but some times it swings through out day ..idk counter attack is one thing even kp or prior which lord gave example of have very solid defense and can defend too if steyn is on fire kp himself admitted that innings he played in england was only possible cos track was flattish and on tougher tracks it would have been impossible to play like that

First, first session, and the first match of the series, and he was trying to slog both of them. Or the way he played in the England series in England. The old Sehwag would have played more sensibly. He should play the aus series in the middle order but Dhoni and company are too stubborn to do so.

His recent failures away are not due to any fundamental flaw in his batting. They are because of him playing too many rash strokes. That's hardly something which cannot be corrected.

his defense is ok he doesn ot covers the ball or move feat out side line of of stump or leaves enough balls ...these all things are part of defence! and defense against short ball ..kp or prior can dig in if they want sehwag cant thats my point
