Marut Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 May be he is/was under treatment with steriods? The surgery on feet he had may have been related to an auto immune problem that usually needs steriod treatment for remission, I am not sure though.

Fact is that Harbhajan, Pandey and Mithun all have two wickets and he has just one. They're all bowling on the same track.

He was getting lot of bounce and carry from the pitch and bowling in good areas and generally bowled well on a flat track. I was really impressed with the accuracy, bounce and hostility of his bouncers today. Even Sachin was in discomfort. Plus the fact that he used this tactic when the ball was not swinging. Why doesn't he do it regularly ? His problem is inconsistency.

But then, so are ALL of our pace bowlers. The one decent bowler we had, Zaheer Khan, is now too old and injury prone to be relevant at international level. Its so depressing seeing the likes of Aus with Cummins, Hilf, Siddle, Pattinson, Cutting, McKay, Johnson, Starc, Hazlewood, Faulkner etc. whilst a country of a billion people cannot produce even one half decent pace bowler. Utter dross like Ishant Sharma who averages almost 40 in Test cricket are hailed as the next big thing. Ishant Sharma would probably struggle to get into some grade sides in Australia.

Of all the bowlers his bowling looks the most threatening albeit for brief spells; the way he fought with Tendulkar shows the guy isnt intimidated despite being away from the game. But his negatives outweighs the positives, but I'll still have him in my side, more so due to the state of Indian pace bowling at the moment!!
